Influences
The Sound
The repertoire consists of a mix of tasty goods from the most famous kitchen of soul music, Motown, also including some pearls and diamonds that we track down in vinyl collections of the Northern Soul genre.
Songs like "Too Much A Part Of Me", sung by Patti Austin (1967), The Latinaires' "Camel Walk" (1968), "Fever" by Peggy Lee (1958), "The Basement" by Etta James & Sugarpie de Santo (1966), "My Man, A Sweet Man" by Millie Jackson (1972) or "Can't Chance A Break Up" by Ike & Tina Turner (1965) make hearts beat faster and hips shake wilder!
Songs wie "Too Much A Part Of Me" von Patti Austin (1967), "Camel Walk" von The Latinaires (1968), "Fever" von Peggy Lee (1958), "The Basement" von Etta James & Sugarpie de Santo (1966), "My Man, A Sweet Man" von Millie Jackson (1972) oder "Can't Chance A Break Up" von Ike & Tina Turner (1965) lassen die Herzen höher schlagen und die Hüften weiter schwingen.

About The Basement Brothers feat. The Kitchenettes
Look! That's us in Konk studios London, where we recorded and mixed our first album! (Release in March 08)
The Band
Since 2003 the Basement Brothers feat. The Kitchenettes have been bringing back the original spirit of the 60s. With their amazing stage presence, the seven musicians and three singers will evoke the deep feelings of soul music in you – whether smoky or warm, bitter or sweet, The Kitchenettes have the grand voices and charming ways that can bring you closer to the true pulse of soul.
Plans
With "You Pick My Love" the The Kitchenettes have published their first original song on a 7“ split single, shared with the great Dutch band “The Upsessions”, and have since developed from an insider tip to a household name in the soul scene. The first studio album, "Speak Up! (When You Say Love)" received great reviews and enabled the Band to reach a greater audience, leaving a definite mark on the soul scene. Having played mainly nationwide in Switzerland in 2006, they toured the hottest European clubs and festivals in 2007 and 2008. For 2009 they are planning new single-releases in Spring and a new album in Summer. Subscribe to the newsletter to receive info about forthcoming gigs and releases.
Check out our appearance at the fantastic Kings & Queens Weekender in Hamburg, April 2007, on http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=NRpOajj83Qg! The gig took place at the famous Indra Club on the "Grosse Freiheit" - the same club where the Beatles had their first appearance on the continent.
