You want a true story that's as unbelievable as it is weird? Well, its taken twist of fate upon twist of fate for these four lads to come together. Right back to when singer-songwriters Jasper Ward, and Jon Edwards met as schoolkids in their native Derby, the journey to the four-piece we see today has been long, arduous and occasionally very strange. Their fantastically convoluted history includes armed robberies, chance meetings on the last tube and life-size plastic dinosaurs. The drummers stool alone, has witnessed a Spinal Tap-esque sequence of residents, with a bizarre list of events including sectionings, Caribbean cruises and holidays of no-return to Mexico.
However, fate appears to have finally done twisting (touch wood) and, with Chris Mathison on bass and Steely on the drums, completing the line-up, The Bazookas are demonstrating the talent that prompted legendary producer Kim Fowley to label them as future music heroes! Chris is an award-winning graduate of Londons Bass Tech, while Steely has an excellent biography, encompassing two album releases with State River Widening and a one-off project with Matador Records owner Gerard Cosloy. Meanwhile, as mere teenagers, Jon and Jasper were the leading lights behind a , who caused a big stir in the Midlands in the mid 90s, subsequently signing to an independent label.
The Bazookas have played across the country, as well as many shows in the capital under their belt. Notable supports include The Cooper Temple Clause, King Adora, Johnny Panic, Zico Chain and Senser. Performances, featuring pyrotechnics and beheaded cuddly toys, have so far prompted excellent reviews and were well received by their burgeoning following. In fact, the band have amassed over 3000 addresses for their growing emailing list and have a lively forum on www.thebazookas.com and www.myspace.com/thebazookas. The Bazookas finished recording three tracks - Phone In Sick Tomorrow, Never Gonna Take Me Home and Do It Again, at Londons Gravity Shack in late March 2004. The video for 'Phone In Sick Tomorrow', directed by Armin Ruede, premiered at Soho's Curzon Cinema to a sell-out audience later that year.
A CD, featuring the video, is available from the bands website www.thebazookas.com, as is the bands first recording which was recorded at The Hive Studio in Derby, featuring Feelings I Cant Shake, Party at the Weekend and Stay With Me, although Chris and Steely do not feature on these. There are also 2 live recordings - recorded in a single take and hilariously entitled 'Down in One', recorded in 2005 featuring 'If The Weather Stays Fine' and 'I Do't Mind' and 'Down in One2', recorded in Spring 2006, featuring 'Not Welcome Anymore' and 'I Wanna Be with You'.
The Bazookas recorded 4 new tracks, 'Naughty Boy', 'Alone', 'Summer Rain' and 'How Long Must I wait' in the summer of 2006, as The Bazookas seek to build on the success of their festival appearances and their tours of 2005 and 2006.

As a friend of Killaflaw we'd like to give you the opportunity of purchasing our uniquely numbered, limited edition CD single 'Revolution' which also includes the much loved 'Holy Fuck' on the B side.
There are only 1000 copies in existence and further copies will be sold without these unique numbers, so here is your chance to own a piece of music history from the LIPA award winning band dubbed by Eddy dance/rock guru Temple-Morris "the missing link between Soundgarden and The Prodigy"
The record is of course also available to buy as MP3 download.
Thank you for adding "Grapes from Thornbushes"! There is an excerpt of Chapter 1 in the blog on our page which will hopefully give you an idea about the book.
It's not easy to write about the unsigned rock scene, but this book hopefully captures the essence of what goes on - the love, the hatred, the competition, the passion, the disappointments, the dilemmas...
Your comments, observations, and feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

Mama Shamone – THESE GUYS AREN’T PLAYING LIVE (except one acoustic) EXCEPT AT GLASTO FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR! http://www. myspace. com/mamashamone “Put Mama Shamone on at any venue and they are likely to take the roof off, this was one of the best live shows I’ve seen in years - certainly one of the best in London. In my opinion these guys are destined for greatness, it felt like I was witnessing history being shaped-something was just so right about what they were doing up there.” Vibe Bar
