   The B Club's Blurbs
About me:
The B Club is a Bi-monthly Bonding of Brains and Beautiful people, over Books, Bands and Booze...

The B Club is about brainy entertainment. At every event punters will be treated to readings and spoken word from an array of talents. There will also be an exclusive acoustic sets from hot London bands and a DJ set to finish things off.

It is held every other month at the London's Andaz hotel on Liverpool Street (formerly The Great Eastern). The B Club is the brain-child of freelance fashion / arts writers Ruby Warrington and Francesca Gavin.

Past performers have included writers Mett Thorne, Will Self, Alexei Sayle, Nick Hornby, Michael Smith, Daren King, Wendy Jones and Shiromi Pinto. Poetry from Tim Wells, Anne Brechin, Luke Wright and Sore Throat. And music from MenanTol, Barefoot, Crash Convention, Amber Jolene, Chris Austin and The Soho Dolls.

It’s time we’d Bunged you a quick B-mail about the Bumper summer B Club we’ve gone and lined up for June.

When: Wednesday June 25

Where: The Temple at the Andaz hotel, Liverpool Street

Why: Cos it’s Brainy entertainment, innit?

What time: 8pm ‘til Bed Beckons

The Book we invite you to Bury your head in this month is a Balmy (in more ways than one) Beat classic. Last Exit to Brooklyn is a Bitchin’ tale of Bust-ups and Benezedrine abuse in 1950s America. Designed to B read in Bits, it’ll leave you Balking at the Brutality of it all…We challenge you not to B moved.

And as always, there’ll B plenty of Bookishness, Bandiness and Boozing on the night in question too. Bringing their considerable talents to the Beano this time will B:

Brit wonderkind Joe Dunthorne will B reading from his latest work and debut novel Submarine…

Be-suited Beatmeister George Demure will B Brandishing some truly Beguiling acoustic electronica…

Kyle Hugall with B Brushing up on his Brilliant poetic verse

And Back By popular demand, festival favourites Men-An-Tol will B on hand to finish off the evening with their uniquely Beardy Brand of foot-stompingly fabulous folk.

Who needs Glasto anyway, eh Bookmates?

Book Bingo will B Back too, which means prizes and there will be music through the night and onwards from the DJs from Dingle Dongle.

And all for free, how much Better could it B?

To ensure your Bum has a place to park itself, please RSVP to simon.warrington@andaz.com

The next two Salt Margins at The Whitechapel Gallery are unmissable. Hope to see you there!

Thursday 2 August

Luke Kennard
Laura Forman
Adam Green
The Ex-Men

At 26 Luke Kennard is the youngest ever nominee for the Forward Prize for Best Poetry Collection. He reads from The Harbour Beyond The Movie, his outstanding

second book. Lazy Gramophonite Adam Green reads from Satsuma Sun Mover, a surreal coming-of-age tale. Generation Txter Laura Forman performs poems about Bon

Jovi (yes!) and Battersea Power Station. Plus music and spoken word from Glasgow-based duo The Ex-Men. Doors 7pm, free entry. Produced in association with

Salt Publishing.

Thursday 20 September

Melanie Challenger
Eleanor Rees
Chris McCabe
Songdog

Salt poets Eleanor Rees (Andraste's Hair) and Melanie Challenger (Galatea) have both been nominated for this year's Forward Prize for Best First Collection.

Which is reason enough to come and hear them read. Like Eleanor, Chris McCabe is a Salt poet and a Liverpudlian. His collection The Hutton Inquiry is a

powerful examination of language under pressure. Musical refreshment is provided by the excellent Songdog, led by playwright Lyndon Morgan.

Jan 29 2007 5:48 PM

Hi! I’m Generation Txt, the acclaimed new anthology of poetry featuring Joe Dunthorne, Inua Ellams, Laura Forman, Emma McGordon, Abigail Oborne and James Wilkes.

You can buy me from at Amazon, direct from Penned in the Margins or at selected bookshops nationwide.

Joe Dunthorne, Inua Ellams, Laura Forman, Emma McGordon, Abigail Oborne, James Wilkes

'The current generation of poets under 30 sees the factional stances which lead their predecessors as petty and limiting. Generation Txt looks at all points of poetry's star and is less concerned with the middle ground, which makes this selection of young writers more vital and a truer cross-section of the poetry that will progress and flourish.'
