"The lead vocal is magic...this group has got soul!"" DAVE GODIN, LEGENDARY BLUES & SOUL JOURNALIST
"Top notch funky melodic soul" PAUL MARTIN, SHINDIG!
"Vintage blue-eyed soul with a dash of funk and a whole heap of pop smarts" PAUL BORELLI, KOOP FM TEXAS
"a genuine soul sensation" ALISTAIR CLAY, TELETEXT
"I didn't think they made records like this anymore..." ROBERT ELMS, BBC RADIO LONDON
"Their album is great. Not just indie great, but genuinely, inventively, surprisingly great. The BDI’s are full of soul, funk, style and good music and by thunder, they deserve success.
It would be unfair to single out single tracks for praise because it’s a tremendous body of work but ‘Still Get The Same Old Kick’ sears with a throaty intensity that’s as good as anything a British soul band could produce.
Listen out for this trio and you won’t be disappointed." CHRIS STANLEY, TASTY FANZINE
"An ultra cool sound". SUBBA-CULTCHA.COM
"Guitar-driven with funky rhythms, together with a touch of blues, here we have an act who offer something fresh and exciting. Unique, captivating vocals and great songs with a sense of atmosphere and mood. You should be checking these guys out soon" OLYMPIC RADIO.CO.UK
“This is London based trio The BDI’s debut album and a refreshing album it is too. With live instrumentation throughout including acoustic guitar, congas and horns, it’s firmly rooted in the sound of 70s Soul and Rhythm & Blues and in places reminds me of Traffic. Tracks such as ‘Crying Wolf’, ‘Still Get The Same Old Kick’ and ‘Marathon’ really hit the spot but this album is a pleasure to listen to from start to finish.” ANDY ALLEN, BASIC-SOUL.CO.UK
"Dripping with impassioned emotion. Superb." SCOOTERING MAGAZINE
"With a nod to 60's greats such as Free and the Faces, this is one of those albums that can either console you when you're in need of a shoulder, or fuel the inner fire when you are pumped and ready to bitchslap the world.
While it certainly has a very heavy 60's flavour, there are other great influences clearly heard, like Curtis Mayfield and The Style Council, that fusion of soul and pop, with a dash of blues.
A really great band...8 out of 10" INDIE LAUNCHPAD
"'The BDI's' has soul written all over it...a truly unparalleled album. 9/10" JENNA HORAN, THECELEBRITYCAFE.COM
"fantastic album …all the tracks are sensational…if you buy anything this year make sure it’s this…" MOD RADIO UK
