TUESDAY 13TH MARCH - THE BEALE SET WILL STILL HAPPEN BUT NOT INSIDE SPITZ
THE BEALE ‘GIG’ AT THE SPITZ IS CANCELLED DUE TO A LATE CANCELLATION BY ANOTHER BAND. THIS IN TURN LED TO A SEQUENCE OF EVENTS WHICH RESULTED IN THE GIG BEING LEFT WITH ONLY 50% OF THE BANDS FOR THE NIGHT AND NO BACKLINE.
THE BEALE WOULD HAVE OVERCOME THESE PROBLEMS AS THE GROUP DO NOT USE LARGE “THE WHO-STYLE” AMPLIFICATION OR A DRUMKIT AND HAD, IN FACT, ARRIVED FROM THE DOCKLANDS THIS AFTERNOON COMPLETE WITH BEALE LOUDSPEAKERS AND DRUM MACHINE, BUT IT WAS THOUGHT BY THE VENUE THAT A GIG FEATURING THE BEALE IN THE ROLE AS HEADLINER AND ALL SUPPORTS, WAS NOT COST EFFECTIVE AND THE DECISION WAS TAKEN TO CANCEL TONIGHTS EVENT.
THERE WILL STILL BE A PERFORMANCE OF TONIGHT'S BEALE SET
A FREE 20 MINUTE PERFORMANCE BY PAUL SYKES - BEALE FRONTPERSON - PLUS SOME BEALE MEMBERS WILL TAKE PLACE WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF THE SPITZ AT 8PM SHARP.
TO FIND OUT WHERE THIS WILL BE PLEASE CALL PAUL SYKES AT 7PM ON THIS NUMBER - 0796 183 9794

"Infecting a 1980s post-punk template with furious kitchen-sink surrealism and comical provincial belligerence, The Beale refer to their gigs as 'installations' and have a uniquely entertaining frontman Adrian R Shaw who speaks, rants and sings over a set of twisted, repetetive, germanic tracks, played out by a group who stand in darkness, in front of a screen showing 'affected' slides! Their drummer also happens to be Ben Wallers, of The Rebel / Country Teasers" .....................................................................

"The seeds I bought were San Pedro, Peyote and Morning Glory. This is to create my psychedelic menagerie. To this I can add a Salvia Divinorum plant. Once, me and Craig smoked too much Salvia. I remember looking around and seeing Craig. Then, all of a sudden, I was there in the 'Tiger Reality' which I recognised instantly with a deep familiarity, as if I'd been there loads of times before. It was an alien world full of energy flowing tiger stripe patterns and we were all trying to escape from something terrifying. But how...when you don't even know what you are. I looked at my legs and couldn't work out what they were for. I looked at Danny and tried to work out what he was. He said he could see in my eyes that I was struggling to get back to the normal world. I looked at Craig. He seemed to be talking with Danny as if nothing was wrong. Why the hell was I still in this weird world? Later, it turned out that Craig didn't even remember anything and he was up there with me. Even Danny, who was sober was spooked by our behaviour and by the ten-minute look I gave him. Afterwards I wondered, if that stuff can change your perception so completely...what exactly is real? Is this world just a contruct of the brain? When I got back to the normal world I remembered that I had planned to double the dose after the first go. "Fuck that!" I thought. One was too much."

You guys are way too cool! I'm glad you're playing shows again. Hope you're playing somewhere next time I'm in London....been a while since I've seen ya. (think the last time was when Ben's keyboard fell down twice, so he finished the show sitting on the floor! LOL) Classic stuff!!!
