   About The Beat Beggars
SEE US ON YOUTUBE!! For over 8 years, The Beat Beggars have played their own original, rowdy rock-n-roll songs, along with a continuously growing repertoire of songs by the legendary J.J. Cale. Although the laid back Cale wrote rock classics like "After Midnight", "Cocaine" and "They Call Me the Breeze", we prefer to "beggarize" and infuse energy into less popular songs from his thirty-five year career. Our current JJ repertoire includes: Mama Don't, Cajun Moon, No Time, Ride me High, Living Here Too, 13 Days, Bringin it Back, Kiss this World Goodbye, Like You Used To, Disadvantage, Sensitive Kind, Don't Cry Sister, Deep Dark Dungeon, Lies, Right Down Here, Same old Blues, Lady Luck, Hold On Baby. Although the Beat Beggars are blues influenced, but we definitely aren't mired in twelve-bar blues. We don't want to be the band that sounds the same after the third song, and we certainly don't want to be categorized as a cover band. High energy, rockin, originals like "DeMystify" and "Your Silence" include funky twists and turns throughout. "Keep On Slidin' has a driving rock-a-billy feel. "You're So Unkind" has a Zevon-esque sound, and "Wrung My heart Out Like a Dishcloth" has a texas twist. Mix in a little John Hiatt, Junior Wells, Dire Straits, Joe Cocker, and many unique Cale renditions... you get a kickin rock-n-roll show! Dan Tortora plays lead and rhythm guitars, as well as provides vocals for many of the band's songs. Mike Joseph also plays rhythm/lead guitar and sings. Bob Kaimer just joined us in August 08 on the bass, as did Dennis Buttery on the drums. Have a look at our many bar videos on youtube! www.youtube.com/jammarama
