We are in a war and we are losing.

The Beat Communique was formed in early 2008 by the brothers Shaun and Kevin Kilroy. The band has gone through many other members in its short lifetime, each adding something uniquely important to the project. In it's current form The Beat Communique is comprised of Shaun Kilroy, Kevin Kilroy and Jonathan Smith.

We are sometimes political, sometimes philosophical, sometimes depressed, sometimes angry, sometimes beautiful and sometimes ugly, but we are always striving to create art. We believe that we are in a war and that we are losing that war. Not just us, but art and free thought in general are being trampled on and destroyed little by little every day, and this is all being ignored. We consider it our mission bring these atrocities to the attention of the general public so that they will be addressed and we will not falter in this goal. This is the entire reason that we are in a band. Anyone can make music. Millions of people have made beautiful music before us, millions are making it now, and millions will make it after us. We are not exceptional in that regard, but our purpose gives us life, gives us meaning, and makes the The Beat Communique a project worth investing our time in. If you feel the same way we are glad to have you on our side and will be your ally until death. If you feel the opposite we don't care. We scream, we cry, we rant, we flail about on stage until we damn near pass out because we are passionate about what we do, and we don't think the world needs another hook driven pretty boy singing inconsequential songs about inconsequential things because he is too scared to address anything real. We want to create beauty, we want to generate emotion, but most of all we want to change the way you view the world.
