The Beaufort Scale formed following a chance meeting at the legendary Big Chill Eclipse Festival at The Larmer Tree Gardens in 1999.
Inspired by a shared love of Ambient Electronica, Dub, Jazz, Funk, Electro and even Shoegaze; The Beaufort Scale produce carefully-crafted aural landscapes - fusing together rich layers of live instrumentation with electronica all held together with a liberal application of dub bass and found sound.
The Beaufort Scale's seminal chill-out track 'Sevastopol' attracted the attention of Pete Lawrence for his Big Chill compilation 'Take Me Home' and featured on 'The Chillout Lounge' compilation mixed by Ben Mynott, as well as on a limited 12" vinyl release.
Their current projects are a remix single 'Daytripper', to feature audio and video remixes by artists including The Irresistible Force and Dialog, and an album 'Forgotten Memories' which they will be looking to release later this year.
