The Beautiful Bivalve.......................................
Originating from country Victoria, this band is a tasty temptation sitting perfectly between contemporary rock and funk, an audacious concept brimming with originality and defying most stereo types.
Eclectic, ironic, fresh and with a touch of mischief; a unique and harmonious five piece that’s always quirky and always fun!
Bivalve bivalve bivalve... what is a bivalve? We all thought about this very hard and then it came to us one morning... A Bivalve is simply a type of aquatic mollusk with a two-sided, symmetrical shell. Each side of the shell is a valve; hence gastropods, such as snails, are sometimes called univalves (yet another good band name). Some common bivalve species include clams, oysters, and mussels. There are both freshwater and marine bivalve species. Bringing all this into context; The Bivalve is a way of conceiving music, a useless sea slug, its only defense, a hard chitinuous shell - as transient as the tide and as tasty as the flesh itself. [insert sea noises]
It's going to be a monster four band pile up on highway 666 as Vultures of Venus crash into the Birmingham on Thursday the 3rd of Dec. Their debut LP which is now available through I-Tunes has been receiving strong support and favorable reviews from local radio RRR, PBS and Syn Fm. It will also be available in hard copy on the night. This gig is gonna be fun, fun, fun on the Smith st autobahn. Armed with big rock riffs and blazing electrified keys this is the Vultures first show since their sellout LP Launch. This is a band with a plan; and that plan is to make you do the Can Can. Joining them on the night is Mirrorhouse Antics whos live show is a cross between the Arctic Monkeys and The Stooges. They have just released their debut album, recorded at Bakehouse by Mikey from Eddie Current Suppression Ring. Dan Webb's 60's styled Hammond infused insanity is gonna be something to look out for as well as the 'Wise Flys' : they'll make you laugh they'll make you cry, they'll make you laugh about crying. And don't forget to look out for the crazy clown pinyada filled with burning flesh and give away fun toys for the kids. This is a B.Y.O "leotard friendly event ". So pour yourself into your favorite and come on down !!!
