The main goal of The Belbouchos is not to re-invent
the blues, but to make it sound wild & furious again.
It all started many years ago with five excited teenagers playing
ballroom bullshit & cheap sing-along songs.
Some band members left, some came. Other rock, jazz
and blues bands were tried, but in the end
everybody realised that the grass was not greener
on the other side... It was time to set the record
straight, so they got back together to do what they
do best. Kick ass!

This is not another "get together" to celebrate old
times; it's a new and fresh gang of five that will open your
eyes & ears.

We zijn nog niet goed bekomen van het debuut van The Slipmates en daar is al een andere rockin' rootband die onze bewondering afdwingt. The Belbouchos (www.myspace.com/thebelbouchos) serveren een dampende set eigen nummers gekoppeld aan opvallende covers (Caravan, Lonesome me). Antwerp-Brabantse blues 'n' roots die aangeeft dat de geest van het haast legendarische Mambo Chillum zaliger nieuwe bodies heeft gesnatcht.
Een zompige, uit klei getrokken mondharmonica, een gitaar die die demonen oproept en temt tegelijkertijd. Kijk eens wat ze doen met Ellington's 'Caravan', een nummer met een heuse over-exposure, qua gecoverd zijn.
Bij een verzamelaar kon uw dokter ooit een 35-tal verschillende versies tellen. Edoch, The Belbouchos brengen de voodoo in het nummer. Je ziet voor je neus in een nachtelijk woestijnlandschap een karavaan op zijn trail of death voorbijtrekken, verlicht door een lijkbleke volle maan, met een boosaardig grijnzende Dr. John die de teugels ment. Ook de 3 eigen nummers tappen uit hetzelfde, met levensgevoel en bourbon doordrenkte, tonneke blues.
Je moest al op weg zijn naar hun volgend optreden, begot!
