We rose up from the water, dripping wet and full of dreams.....

"We had a ton of great music this week, but I'd love to write up The Bella Birds in this weeks newsletter. They came by the Lizard Monday show a few months ago as a duo for the first time and have been rockin' it ever since. Bassist/Vocalist Zack Root and Guitarist/Vocalist Pam Craven mix their superb musicianship and sound scapes to back up their harmonies effortlessly, leaving the listener with nothing to do by sit back and enjoy. Zack's chordal bass style provides a unique sound that you don't often hear in acoustic music which is an extra treat! The most recent addition of the "Cajon" to their band locks them in solid and The Bella Birds are now a trio on the rise!!!
Keep an eye out for "The Bella Birds"!!!" - Tom Bianchi from the Lizard Lounge Open Mic Challenge.
“A little bird told us That The Bella Birds, an arty Lowell trio, will release its first full-length album If you don't mind, at the Eggroll Cafe Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The darling indie folk rock band will renew your faith in local music scene. Singing "You're like hot coffee, warms my inside, that sweet aroma travels for miles," sure washes down nicely with a cheeseburger eggroll!" - Lowell Sun
BIRD SONGS - "With the release of their first full length album, If You Don't Mind, the Bella Birds continue to develop their signature indie-folk style with seductive harmonies, creative instrumentation and clever arrangements. I've always been a fan of bands with more than one lead vocalist and Pam Craven and Zack Root admirably share the spotlight throughout the album. It's the vocal harmonies, however, that grab your attention and make you want to listen further. During the chorus of Craven's Watchtower, the two voices blend beautifully, though somewhat eerily, as the descending melody melts over sweeping, minor guitar chords. Drummer Chris Forgione drives things forward without ever becoming distracting keeping the focus where it should be: on the vocals.
The Bella Birds celebrate the release of If You don't Mind at the Egg Roll Cafe in Lowell on Thursday, March 5th. Music starts at 7:30. Should be a cool show, especially while sipping on a bubble tea or a rasberry sake." - Peter Lavender, March 2, 2009
Bio:
It's happened! Finally! After months of not seeing the sun, family, and friends, the album is complete! Hooray! The days of self imposed servitude are behind us, at least until the next one. In celebration, we threw a CD release party at the lovely Eggroll Cafe on March 5th. The album features great arrangements, tight rhythms, and beautiful harmonies, with artwork created and visualized by Pam and Zack. We were soo excited to see everyone at the show!
Zack, Pam, and Chris have been working steadily on their first full length album for months. It is set to be an thirteen song album featuring some of the newer classics "Watchtower," and "Departing Hymn," (new version). The Bella Birds are anticipating to release this album by early March or late February and it is expected to tingle the senses!
The Bella Birds announced their first release of new t-shirts in October! It's a great design that both Zack and Pam created together and every shirt is screen printed by hand by the both of them. The shirts come in all sizes and are featured in blue, green, and black. Zack and Pam also released their first EP together: "Uke Can Do It!" in July 2008. This is a fun EP where all of the songs are recorded with ukulele and other acoustic instruments. It features "Apple of my eye," "Echoes," and ofcourse the most famous "Darling Dear."
Zack and Pam are an indie folk rock band from Lowell, MA. Zack and Pam met during their years studying at UMass Lowell. After listening and playing similar music for some time the duo decided to form a band, the Bella Birds!!! The duo has been playing since late 2007 and has continued to spread their music across the state. With the recent addition of their friend Chris Forgione in May, the Bella Birds are now backed with some great driving beats that only enhance your listening experience.
The Bella Birds focus their music on catchy melodies, tight harmonies, creative lyrics, and perhaps absurd humor. The Bella Birds have appeared recently at Club Passim, Brew'd Awakening Coffeehaus, the Lizard Lounge, Gardner Ale House, and P.A.C.E.. The Bella Birds are also very well known at the Eggroll Cafe in Lowell and McNally's in Westminster where they frequently play.
You guys (and girl ) sound so great together!!! It was a pleasure meeting you @ Strange Folk Fest; your Sat. & Sun. sets were terrific! I'm so glad we picked up your CDs; they definitely made our car trip home more pleasant. We've come to a conclusion as a band that "Miles & Miles" & "Never Came" should be number #1 hits! Keep up the great work and hopefully we'll see you again soon!! Keep in touch! Peace & Love ~ eYE(S)
