Beneath the Scars is the new face of Horror Metal.
Crashing in to the Metal/ Death Metal scene in early 2004 they have since undergone many changes to become the aural atrocity that they are today. Born out of the ashes of the Erie/ Meadville area band Tattered, drummer Dickler, guitarist Engraver, and bassist Kazper started BTS as a four piece playing mostly Slayer and Sepultura Covers with the addition of guitarist BDLS. In late 2005 the band picked up vocalist Jayden from the collapse of Left for Dead. Early 2006 brought in Spider in the Hall’s Main man, Splitter, ..boards. Sadly, it was around this time that BDLS left the band for personal reasons.
It was at this point, as a five piece that Beneath the Scars not only came together as a band, but formed their own unique style as well. The insanity of the music is fueled by bone crushing rhythms, melodic keyboards, high energy breakdowns, mind blowing leads, and demonic growls that lead the listener into their own dark little world. The Horror Metal theme is followed tightly with eerie keyboards, chilling intros and outros, and keen vocals centered around the wonders of the macabre. To fully captivate, awe, and scare those who see BTS for the first time the band takes stage in a sea of fog drenched in blood with enough energy to destroy the bounds of traditional Heavy Metal.
Late 2006 brought the end of Kazper’s tenure as he departed for secondary education. This brought in Brian Eddy Himself on Guitar, and Tiny on bass. Due to personal and musical differences these two did not stay long and were solidly replaced by bassist Nacho from the local West Erie band, Crowfeather and Mike Larrison, formerly from Self Inflicted. But Mike’s tour with BTS was short-lived, and he moved on to pursue other interests. Now, nearing the end of 2007, Beneath the Scars has come full circle, bringing original member Kazper back to handle the rhythm guitar, and OX to handle the low end .
May the devastation ensue
