The Markus Band have been playing and making albums since 1983 - flavours of Rock, some Prog with a hint of Reggae. Songs written by singer/guitarist Ben Markus reveal their best features with the family based band line-up which does change personel from time to time. Son Sean takes the guitar and daughter Melanie joins the band on vocals, the line-up is completed by Karl Randall on drums.
Ben Markus has been playing guitar gigs since the age of 12 . After success on the P.R.T. (PYE) label in the 1980's, with the album 'Nocturn Gate' co produced by Steeleye Spans Nigel Pegrum, a brief break followed, but the band bounced back with 'Shaggy Dog Story' and has been active ever since. Ben's distinctive voice and guitar style make his tracks instantly recognisable.
Other albums are; 'Rabble without a cause', 'Magic Garden', 'New Jersey Exile', 'Time to move on' and a 'Best of' album 'MANHATTAN EXILE' due out 2009-2010 - for a sample - www.myspace.com/benmarkusmusic - Many of these are available from specialist record sellers such as Vynyl Tap, Amazon and Netsounds (If you 'google' "The Markus Band"....a few more sellers will be shown)
