The Berriez met at Taylor High School where all five members tried hard to attend. They formed just after leaving and have been writing, recording and gigging ever since, packing out every new music venue in and around central Scotland on their merry way. Singing in their own accents and putting it together with great melodies and stories, the band has a snowballing fan base throughout Scotland (as well as the internet!). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With a tribe of local supporters firmly established in Motherwell’s Starka Bar in 2005 (cue Berriez! Berriez! Berriez! chant), 2006 saw XFM hop on the Berriez bandwagon also, as well as phenomenal headline shows in King Tut’s, Barfly and The Renfrew Ferry to name a few. 2007 saw the boys step up another level to play a T-Break showcase gig in Edinburgh’s Liquid Rooms in association with T in the Park and Radio 1 as well as gain more support from radio and the press. Currently previewing new live songs, recording an EP and embarking on another gigging schedule, the boys are still hard at work.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With an enigmatic guitarist, a rhythm section who are as mad as each other and even a pair of bickering siblings thrown in, The Berriez not only tick all your favourite indie boxes but offer you an honest freshness through their sizeable catalogue of poetic and melodic pop songs. Songs brought to you by a band which boasts 3 composers, 4 lyricists, 2 vocalists and the best young drummer you’re likely to see. Never a band short of ideas or the willingness to entertain, don’t be surprised if you’re chanting Berriez! Berriez! Berriez! before long.
Please note the new RecordScout.com website is live! We have so many new features all aimed at unsigned, and signed bands looking for valuable exposure. Forget that other rubbish you had planned for this weekend, diy, painting the cat etc, going out to some booooring club with booooring music and even more booooring people - this is where it's really at...
It's all happening at the new studio:
The Tollhouse 10 Possil Rd Glasgow G4 9SY
10 Mins walk from Charing Cross, straight up St Georges Road till you see the Tower Bar in front of you & we're right above it.
I am absolutely dismayed as to the reasons behind the shutting of Capitol...
Myself and Mandy love working there & we have worked really hard to make sure that every band that comes to OUR venue is treated well & has the best possible sound.
We really do care about Capitol, we look after our kit and the venue to keep it in the best shape we can, putting in LOADS of extra UNPAID hours just to try and make it a cut above the rest of the crap out there in Glasgow, and i think everyone, ourselves, you guys the musicians & all of the great promoters have succeeded in building something rare & special, a venue that actually gives a shit!
I seriously hope G1 will see that this is something worth saving, not just for the sake of a couple of jobs, myself's and Mandy's - but for the sake of the whole Glasgow music scene. If you've ever played at Capitol, had a good time and been treated well, don't be lethargic if you're sitting there reading this - all it will take is two minutes to leave a comment on the Capitol myspace supporting the cause & hopefully we can swing it!
