Jon Lawlor wrote songs. He was known as a renegade who would take off in a rickety van with an acoustic guitar, playing his songs to sometimes nothing more than the wind and a few truckers.
Clint Herring was the energetic drummer known for an unscripted drum solo at a high school jazz concert; ending in him throwing his sticks in the air and walking off stage. Making waves in their own corners of Virginia, finally they met.
Lawlor's talent and haunting voice, coupled with Herring's raw energy and volume created a brand of rock that is pounding, anthemic, and melodic. The unique process of crafting songs on drums and guitar produces a fiery yet solid groove with hooky riffs and soaring melodies, a sound they now call "explosionism."
When the raw potential of these songs fell into the laps of 2008 additions, John Paul Holt (lead guitar) and CC Greenlee (bass) the 4 piece outfit became capable of producing sounds that some are calling the illegitimate offsprings of vintage rock and modern pop.
Mystique, energy, power, and a quirky rebelliousness make The B-Film Extras one of 2009's top indie bands to watch.
