Sounds Like
What if the Shangri-La's came from Liverpool? And what if one of the Shangri-La's was a tall, skinny, beatgoof of a guy with a Prince Valient haircut? Throw in a 12-string guitar and a couple of minor chords and now you should be feeling the effects of Bippeism.
The Artists formerly known as The Maybellines (the S.F. Maybellines, not those chumps from Denver) have been on-again, off-again since '92. We got tired of people coming up and asking us, "how are things in Denver?" so we became the Bippies in '02. The Maybelline makeup company of Paris, France (pfooie!) once threatened a lawsuit over our previous name back in '99. No individual or group bearing the name has bothered us since the name change. Stay tuned music fans, a Bippies album is in waiting in the wings--No Jive!!!

just in case you're anywhere near Los Angeles... dig, on Friday, March 30th we're doing a Beatnik Film Night at the Egyptian Theater on Hollywood Blvd, featuring Curtis Harrington's 1961 flick "Night Tide" (starring Dennis Hopper & Linda Lawson), two early-'60s shorts on the Venice Beat scene, plus our own one-hour slide show of Beatnik coffeehouses and Jazz joints from Topanga Canyon to Laguna Beach 1956-1966 (some Hollywood ones too). It's gonna be far out, hope you can make it. -- Domenic Priore
