The Broatch Family has always been passionate Red Sox fans and Britton was
no exception. One of his favorite places in this world was Fenway Park.
When Britton passed away, we decided there was no better place to spread his
ashes. After receiving a letter signed by our family, the Boston Red Sox
Organization agreed to our request. On a quiet and sunny August morning,
our family gathered around home plate in an empty Fenway Park. We said
prayers, scattered Britton's ashes, and took home some infield dirt. The
only others in the park were the ground crew, who stopped working to pay
their respects. Britton has since had the best seat in Fenway and every
time we watch the Sox, we know he's watching too.

About me: The Britton John Broatch Memorial Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that was started in 2003 to fund an annual scholarship and other charitable gifts. Over the past four years we have had the great privilege of awarding six scholarships and have donated to several worthy causes.
Some of the Foundation's contributions have included gifts in Britton's name to both local and global causes. Among the organizations receiving gifts were the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army to help aid in the relief efforts of Hurricane Katrina, the American Cancer Society, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the AmeriCares Foundation for South Asia Tsunami Relief, the C.R.O.P. Walk and Oxfam to assist in African Famine Relief.
Local organizations that received Britton John Broatch Memorial Foundation donations were, the Milford Library, the John Tartaglio Fund, the Daniel Quirk Memorial Scholarship, the Kenny Gibson Kidney Transplant Fund, the Dillon Flannigan Foundation, the Jason Bousquet Cancer Fund, the Hill Children's Education Fund, N.E.A.D.S., and Operation Fuel (A program that helps pay the fuel bills of those in need during the cold winter months).
We are honored to make these gifts in Britton's name and know that he would be proud of the good that is associated with the Foundation. With continued fund raising efforts and the Foundation's supporters, we will be able to continue assisting those in need and granting annual scholarships in Britton's name.
