Formed toward the end of 2008 on the streets of Nashville, Tennessee by punk rock veterans, Travis Maynard and Steve Sacchetillo, The Black Fairlanes combine modern rockabilly, rock and roll with outlaw country rhythms, and punk rock influences.
Travis and Steve met in mid 2001 by both playing with punk bands that shared the same venues often. Steve, playing electric bass with Unit Six, and Travis playing electric bass and singing for Breaking Spree.
By 2005, things had changed dramatically for the South Florida punk scene. Bands were breaking up right and left, popular clubs and venues closed down, and pop music had infiltrated the underground scene for the last time. It was time for a change.
Steve picked up the upright bass after leaving Unit Six. With quite a knack for the instrument, he took up a spot playing with The Van Orsdels, and Slip & The Spinouts. At the same time, Travis had started a duo with Steve just messing around and playing covers. Soon this led to the formation of Chainsmoke, a five piece outlaw rock band in 2006; Travis on vocals and acoustic guitar, and Steve perfecting the upright, joined by three other musicians. After scheduling problems and friendly difficulties, the group finally disbanned later that year.
Now that both member are back in South Florida, photographer and graphic designer, Travis, concentrates on art and music as the number one passion in his life. Steve plays for The Van Orsdels as well as his devotion to The Black Fairlanes. Together the duo is ready to play out and start networking with venues, promoters, and other groups of the same genre.
