ALBIE plays the guitar, sings, writes songs, and occasionally says stuff on mic you wish he hadn't said.
SHAWNY plays the bass, refuses to sing, and is an evil recording genius. Likes earth tones, sorbet and Roy Orbison, as sung by Divine.
WERICH (genus name Mikus Weinus Reichus) plays the drums and percussion, sings backup despite microphone fear, and is an ASE certified recording mad scientist.

What the local press has said about 'Hell Is Cold':
"Not simply stuck in heavy metal rockin' mode, the Black Fuel's music is deeply rooted in the blues, and tracks like "Comin on Slow" and the voodoo chug of "Wrong Way Town" roar with the ferocity of the Jimi Hendrix Experience or Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble."
-Greg Haymes, The Times Union
"...a groovy blend of rock, blues, and funk, served up with some killer singing and playing."
-John Brodeur, Metroland Magazine
The Black Fuel is reaching a good place in their lives and in their music. While still a relatively new band, this old-school power trio has been attracting a dedicated fan base and peer appreciation, thanks to the intense wallop of their live approach. Based in Troy and Queensbury, NY, they’re three down to earth guys celebrating a years old friendship by smearing blues, hard rock, funk and psychedelia into pure stank-nastiness on the downbeat- all with the Love of The One.
Hell Is Cold, the band’s sophomore effort is 38 minutes worth of hellacious, rarified original hard rock. Junk-In-The-
Trunk grooves from the tight, dynamic rhythm section, worked over liberally with a downright feral electric guitar. When they bring Ye Olde Wroth, it’s OK if your body wants to do strange things, and you crave strong drink.. All in a night’s work, people!
Shawn McCann is the bassist and one of the group’s two studio mad scientists. He lays down the swift low-end justice on stage, and is a key element in the band’s studio sound.
Drummer Mike Weirich, the group’s fellow studiophile is the Yin to McCann’s Yang, beating out primal rhythms on both trap kit and an array of hand percussion instruments. The drive-wheel of the band’s live show, Mike also uses a sure hand in the studio process, working with McCann to shape the sonic spaces.
It’s a good thing too, because Albie clearly cannot be relied upon for technical expertise of any sort. He plays the guitar, writes songs and sings. He’s been kicking around the Capital Region music scene for a dog’s age.
The 11-song effort displays a wealth of influence, from ZZ Top and Tom Waits, to Motorhead and James Brown. Well worth a listen from any fan of old fashioned rock music, as performed by fierce, passionate musicians.
The Black Fuel is coming for you all, childrens. Dig it!
