2009 About Blackheart...
“Blackheart are taking the acoustic scene by storm” BBC Radio
Just 2 years into their collaboration as Blackheart, Welsh singer Chrissy Mostyn and guitarist Rick Pilkington are widely regarded as the fastest rising stars of the new folk generation having become established for both their live concerts and their outstanding debut album ‘Indigo’.
“They bring folk music bang up to date” Allgigs
2008 saw them headlining their own successful tours across the UK, Scotland and Ireland plus a major city tour with Jared Osmond of the famous Osmond family.
“A great band” Aled Jones, Radio 2
Their songwriting blends folk, country and even rock influences to create a unique style of beautifully crafted, instantly memorable songs that has been christened by the media ‘urban folk’. Their highly personal songs paint pictures of their lives with subjects such as hometowns, marriage, faith, redundancy, bereavement and even suicide all being treated with the sensitive, intellectual lyrical observation that is becoming the trademark of their work.
“Their forthcoming album looks to be a big hit” Maverick Magazine
Their live shows combine the unforgettable lemon and honey voice of Chrissy Mostyn and jaw-dropping acoustic guitar playing of Rick Pilkington with highly entertaining audience interaction as they tell the stories behind their songs. Their album track ‘Unlike Water’ was recently chosen as the soundtrack to one of the biggest TV commercials of the year and they are regularly featured on national radio with their song ‘94 Years’ being chosen as Radio 2 Song of the Day for Fathers Day 2008 and their single Bleak Midwinter reaching No.1 in the NCM Euro Chart.
“Blackheart do not sound like anyone else, rather they remind us why music lifts us up” Dalton Delan, American Public Television (USA)
Plans for 2009 include new album ‘Invisible’ to be released in April with a live DVD, a 120 date headline tour of the UK, a four week tour of Ireland in March/April and a major US tour in September.
