Citizine Magazine Showcase—Austin’s new music and community news publication, presents the first-ever CITIZINE MUSIC SHOWCASE on SATURDAY, AUGUST 2ND at the United States Art Authority (510 W. 29th St., Austin, TX 78705). Special guests the McMercy Family Band will open the show, and headlining the event is one of Austin’s best-known Irish-punk bands, Black Irish. Black Irish offers a high-energy mix of banjo, fiddle and stand-up bass that help match the roaring electric guitar and pounding drum kit, rock elements that really put their Irish-style outcries into overdrive. This event is sponsored in part by several independent businesses in Austin, including: Backspin Records, Brave New Books, Cuatro’s Bar & Grill, Dog Almighty, Sonny’s Vintage, Spiderhouse Café, and Southside Flying Pizza. A drawing will be held during the event where CITIZINE will give away prizes and gift certificates from many of these sponsors. www.
