The BlackMoods are carrying the torch for real Rock and Roll!!!! Although no one likes comparisons, they bring the vibe, energy, and attitude of such great bands as Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, The Tragically Hip, and The Doors. They gig relentlessly and it shows in the energy and precision of their live shows. All bands claim to be better live; these guys are a true LIVE ROCK AND ROLL BAND.
They have played such shows as: The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Block party 2003 (the 2nd largest New Years Eve Celebration in the US) , PF Changs Rock-N-Roll Marathon 2004 & 2005, The Scottsdale Ultimate Block Party 2004 and some of the best music venues in Phoenix. Currently, you can catch the band playing at local Valley clubs such as: Last Exit (Tempe, AZ), Marquee Theatre (Tempe, AZ), Yucca Tap Room (Tempe, AZ), The Real Bar (Tempe, AZ) Alice Cooperstown (Phoenix, AZ) Sugar Daddy's (Scottsdale, AZ), Martini Ranch (Scottsdale, AZ), and Iguana Macs (Chandler AZ). Look for them NOW in LA, Vegas, Tucson, and Beyooooooond!
Their first release entitled Laurel Canyon became available in August 2005. Recorded at Arizonas famed Saltmine Studios under the direction of producer Jim Kaufman, this six-song release introduces The BlackMoods to the world and is already generating a buzz in Phoenix, gaining airplay on KEDJ, 103.9 The Edge and Creamyradio.com.
The BlackMoods are: Josh Kennedy (Vocals-Guitars, flying hair, and rock star poses), Ryan Prier (Bass and general sense of calmness and well being), and Chico (Drums, good looks, and style). Two of the three members (Joshua Kennedy and Ryan Prier) were born and raised in Wheaton, MO and have played together for over ten years. Josh and Ryan moved to Arizona to attend the Conservatory of Recording Arts located in Tempe. The two Wheatonites met Chico, an Arizona native and veteran of the local music scene through a mutual friend in Tempe. They all three clicked instantly. They began playing shows almost immediately after Chico's first rehearsal. Since then, they have gone on to become a top draw in Phoenix.
