The Black Tie Party (established 2007) is a three-piece punk rock band (often described as noise pop/art punk) from New York City.
The Black Tie Party consists of Jay Honstetter (guitar & vocals), Adam Bucsek (bass & backing vocals) and Larry Gorman (drums & backing vocals).
Gorman is known as the former drummer of Glassjaw, Head Automatica and Orange 9mm (among others). Honstetter had previously replaced Jens Carstensen in New York dance-punk act Breakup Breakdown, and eventually recruited Jens upon the formation of The Black Tie Party. Gorman joined not long after, having just parted ways with Head Automatica, and the three commenced writing and recording immediately. They made their live debut in Brooklyn in May 2007. Jens joined the Giraffes in January 08 and was replaced by bassist Adam B.
The Black Tie Party excels in a melodic, controlled chaos, featuring lyricism with deeply literary influences, punctuated by screaming and memorable hooks. Mixing elements of early punk rock, garage, post-punk, noise, indie, surf, soul, screamo and hardcore, The Black Tie Party brings soulful, dissonant and complex twists to the classic punk sound.
The band released a 7-song EP "Ex-Lovers and Scars" in October 2007. They are currently working on a follow-up EP that thus far has not been named.

I'm listening to 3:30am... but I'm an hour late. Gotta say though, damn fine song and recording! The differences in guitar tone in the different parts are very pronounced, and it really adds to the strength of the song...
