Record Review: The Blessings - "Bare Bones" (Basementboy Records)
Shit kicking rock and roll. I'm not really sure why that is the description I apply to The Blessings and their debut album "Bare Bones" but it seems appropriate. Somewhat a cross between Sticky Fingers/Exile on Main Street Stones with early Black Crowes and Georgia Satellites, this CD is a great, honky tonk barrel ride of raunchy, boogie-woogie swamp rock (how's that for a description!).
Hailing from Hollywood, the boys of The Blessings have some absolutely first rate, fun rock and roll on this album and they are also the authors of one of the greatest lines in a song when they sing in "Drink in Her Hand"
"In the bar or all alone
She knocks them back like she's George Jones"
Just that line alone tells me that these guys know what rock and roll is all about. Have a listen and I know you'll agree with me. Great stuff.

The Blessings – Band Bio
Charging roots rock ‘n’ roll; THE BLESSINGS incorporate raspy vocals, clever lyrics, tasty guitar riffs, punching harmonica licks and a driving bottom end. Impacted by traditional rock and blues, The Blessings convey raw passion and conviction both on stage and in their albums.
Formed in 2004, they have built up a loyal following by playing non-stop shows from the West Coast to the East Coast and beyond. Their uncompromising attitude and exciting performances never fail to bring their audiences to a state of rock and roll ecstasy.
With true roots in the blues, as well as classic rock ’n’ roll, they continue to bring real soul and passion to their fans. Musical influences come from many outstanding artists such as The Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Faces, Chuck Berry, The Yardbirds, Taj Mahal, Wilson Pickett and many more. The BLESSINGS have distilled these many inspirations into their OWN SOUND which propels their shows to great effect.
The group is comprised of Jeremy White (lead vocals, harmonica and rhythm guitar), who is an ace frontman and really feels each song he delivers. His harp playing is truly exceptional and he punches each song with his own exciting style of showmanship.
Mike Gavigan is on lead guitar and lap steel, when needed. He bends bluesy lead lines to enhance each number and is a major part of the BLESSING’S sound.
Jamie Zimlin is the bass guitarist. A veteran of the L.A. Scene, he nails the rhythm in place and provides the roll of the rock.
Jason Upright, is the drummer. Solid and tough, he anchors The BLESSINGS with power and finesse.
Teddy “Zig Zag” Andreadis, formerly of Guns ’n’ Roses and Alice Cooper, provides that unmistakable barrelhouse piano and hammond B3 organ.
The BLESSINGS have a NEW CD out called “BARE BONES” which has been released by Basement Boy Records. This label is owned by the team of Bam 13 and Share Ross (Dogs D'amour and Bubble), who also produced many tracks on the album. Additional songs were produced by Mike Hansen.
Nine of the ten tracks are BLESSINGS’ originals with great hooks and chorus lines that stick in the listener’s head soon after feeling the tunes. Jeremy White’s lyrics reflect his keen eye and ear for the traits of love and loss, heartbreak, and THE BLUES.
“Gone Movin’ On” is the BLESSING’S take on a classic garage rocker by Paul Revere and the Raiders. This track is a real favorite of the live shows and really stomps.
The BLESSINGS are a GREAT ROCK ‘n’ ROLL BAND with one KILLER NEW CD and another one on its way.
LISTEN TO THEM, LOOK AT THEM, GO SEE THEM and Always Be Sure To COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS!!!...........................................................................................
