Upon the West Country moors, two young men imbibed the dark liquor of Ezra Pound, Yeats and Dylan Thomas; they listened intensely to the expressive licks of Neil Young and Richard Thompson. They grew and grew, transmogrified and blossomed until they stood as one, as The Blood Choir.
In the dark textures woven one can glimpse Nick Cave and Tom Waits, but then you hear Thomas Hardy's storms over Dorset fields or catch a shimmer of Kate Bush's evocative theatre - until ultimately you realise The Blood Choir sound like The Blood Choir. Stolen moments of woozy distortion hint towards the words - evanescent, enigmatic words - recalling the passionate fury of a Blake watercolour, the black intricacy of a Paradise Lost woodcut.
You are led through a blackened corridor in to the world of Night School. Your fingers stroke dust speckled walls until you realise the russet smears your fingers are meeting may once have been a living red.
Let The Blood Choir take your hands in theirs, and follow whither they will take you.
The Blood Choir are Robin Maddicott and Joe Mountain. They have been performing as The Blood Choir since 2007, but have been writing songs and playing music together since the age of 15. Their live work includes supporting Josh Ritter and The Sadies. They have received frequent airplay on BBC Bristol Introducing, and have been played on Tom Robinson's BBC 6Music show.

"The Blood Choir are Robin Maddicott and Joe Mountain who play dark acoustic songs about love, death and resurrection. With leanings towards the likes of Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash and Tom Waits, the Bath based duo have already picked up quite a following."- Bath Fringe Festival
"Brilliant songs and very impressive harmonies" - Maverick Magazine
"I'll say it again: They're gonna be stars: Quality songs, passionate singing, and Joe Mountain's guitar playing has the skill and restraint that Johnny Marr had in The Smiths.
" - Charley Dunlap, Charleyspace.co.uk
"The Blood Choir sound great" - Brett Sparks, The Handsome Family
"Epic, we love it!"- Richard Pitt and Gary Smith, BBC Introducing

The Blood Choir: 'The Wellwisher' Live at The Rondo (02/05/09)
Hey.. my track 'Deep Down Inside' has been selected for the MP3 Music Awards..... -check it out... and if you fancy voting for it I would really appreciate it.
Yeah I've filled the 10 song allotment but there's nothing new - these recordings all go back to 2007. Time to tape some new ones soon. I'm planning to go down the Porter open mic on Monday to get some practice as I have a gig on Friday in Bristol, first one for 7 months so need to remove some rust.
It's Friday. There's blood in my fingertips and nails in my heart. The moon has spent its last dollar. I weep at the virgin tear. She sweeps the sand from the maze. A chandelier in the grave.
Listened to these 6 classics through last night and finally got the Wellwisher.
