GIULIANO PALMA & THE BLUEBEATERS...
The group was formed in 1994 with the sole purpose of having fun. However, Giuliano Palma & The Bluebeaters quickly rose to the the top and became the most acclaimed ska band in Italy. One might even say that they started the Italian ska scene! In the early days, the group played small clubs about once or twice a month. As time passed their popularity grew, they began touring and playing for ever-growing crowds to the point where every night was sold out!
The Bluebeaters' trademark has always been the original Jamaican ska/reggae sound. With the ability to transform any song and make it their own, they really do follow in the footsteps of Jamaican artists of the past. Once you hear a song by Giuliano Palma & The Bluebeaters you will find it very difficult to keep yourself from dancing!
The band's first release "The Album" in 1999 was published and distributed by their own 'King Size' label. It includes 16 tracks written by artists like Kiss, Cher, Bob Marley and Henry Mancini to name a few. Two years after the release of "The Album" Gino Paoli (the most popoular Italian singer in the 60s) asked Giuliano and the band to cover not one, but two of his hits! The songs were, "Domani" & "Che Cosa c'è". The latter which had been a big radio hit for Paoli, proved to be a huge hit again for the Bluebeaters.
In 2001 the follow-up album "The Wonderful Live" was released. A compilation of live shows recorded at The Rolling Stone in Milano, Io Street Club in Rimini and Palazzetto dello Sport in Rovereto. After the 2nd album the band decided to take some time off and some members worked on other projects. Although the band was on hiatus the fans were eagerly awaiting their return, and in September 2005 The Bluebeaters came back strong with their 3rd album Long Playing with an astounding 22 tracks!
The formula is still the same, but with even better results than before. With songs written by the likes of Joe Strummer, John Lennon, Jakie Opel, Van Halenalso including a longtime Italian favorite, Messico e Nuvole as the single, again they had another monster hit on radio and television. Giuliano Palma & The Bluebeaters have been on tour promoting Long Playing since it's release and is still going strong and still selling out clubs in every city. With shows already booked until September 2006 and more being added all the time the fans will definately have plenty of opportunities to see one or more concerts.
There you have the story of "Giuliano Palma & The Bluebeaters", where does it go from here? Only time will tell... Ska/Rocksteady since 1994!
