Pierce Vaughn a.k.a Blue Monk has been making music from a young age. He started in a band and went over to producing on computer when he was about 14. Since then his interest has been to expand his capabilities in producing a broad spectrum of musical styles. From old to new school hip hop, instrumental / ambient, song writing and producing (soul, funk, pop, rock, reggea), electronic music as well as first music scores for short-film productions.
Influences
My tracks as Blue Monk are generally Instrumental songs that are stylistically influenced by acid jazz, reggae, latin, drum & bass, hip hop, soul to funk and world vibes.
My influences com from people like James Brown, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Ravir Shankar, Jazzanova, Bob Marley, Wes Montgomery, Common, Tribe Called Quest, Guru and many more...
Blue Monk has been traveling the musical landscapes of this universe for the last 15 years. Constantly searching for new sources of inspiration as he ventures through the realms of the quantum world. Every music style is a language. learn to understand the language and you will experience a deep connection with the creator, learn how to speak it and you can reply, learn how to create languages and you will have the power to go beyond what you knew. this is one of Blue Monks philosophies. Expression as evolutionary motor and spiritual connections to the powers that be.
The last years I have been living in the suburbs of a big city. The beautiful nature surrounding my childhood world made me learn about my connection with our planet. Having a direct connection to the big city let me learn the other side of this planet. A confusing but colorful collision of creators and destroyers living in close range, seeking happiness but feeling lost at the same time. This is great material for music compositions. Trying to capture feelings and ideas without words can be a challenge. But without words i feel there is more freedom for the listener. I love vocals but they will define the world i create in a song stronger.
I hope that people listen to my music when they listen to it. some music needs attention some doesn't. I would consider my music the kind that needs attention..but its also a nice side dish.
