The Blues Bone Band formed in 2006 in Kozani, Greece. The story, though, begins a few years earlier, when Sakis Dovolis (guitarist, vocalist) exposed himself to one of the greatest guitar players of all times. Stevie Ray Vaughan. The person responsible for this was his guitar teacher and later good friend and band mate Panagiotis Paraskeuas. From that time Sakis started to look for other blues lovers to play with. After two years and many collaborations with some of the best kozani’s musicians the roster of the band is now: Sakis Dovolis-guitar, vocals, Eri Kourbali-guitar, Panagiotis Paraskeuas-bass and George Vasiliades-drums.
In April 2009 Blues Bone released their first demo album called “Blues Feelings”. This album is Blues Bone’s effort to honor the old school masters such as Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf and keepin’ at the same time the flame and strength of the late electric blues and Texas Blues scene.
Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Eric Clapton, Elias Zaikos, little Walter, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Albert King, Freddy King, Robert Cray, T-Bone Walker are only some of Blues Bone’s influences. To be straight, no one can deny that these people gave to the world the most soulful music, so any Blues fan should be grateful to them.
Blues Bone performed to all over Greece having a great time dealing with a very warm audience. Of course all of the late Greek blues bands have to thank Mr. Elias Zaikos for he is the one who made Blues music familiar and beloved to the Greek audience. Most of the Bone’s gigs was in their home town, Kozani, but after their demo recording they are about to perform in many places all over Greece including Arta, Kastoria, Lamia, Thessaloniki, Ioannina and Karditsa.
The Band at this time preparing a new full length CD hopefully ready for release in February 2010.
