Blue Sky Traffic was formed in 2005 while Justin Kalk and Steve Britton were dropping out of Berklee College of Music in Boston. Their first gigs were in Boston's music venues (The Middle East, Harpers Ferry, T.T. the Bears) and they've since performed all over the U.S.A.
Influenced by everything from Beatle-esque and Motown style songwriting to Jazz, Blues, Funk, Soul, Folk, Country and even old school Hip Hop, their original and very unique style is like a amalgamation of the music of the last century. Every performance is soulful, intoxicating and unique to each show. "I felt it in my bones the way you all were dancing and playing up there" said one young new fan after first witnessing "Blue Sky Traffic".
In the summer of 2006 the band traveled to New York City and Hollywood and became finalist's on NBC's international band competition 'Star Tomorrow' hosted by grammy award winning producer, David Foster (Whitney Houston/ John Lennon). Foster's positive critique of the band's performance helped the band win 4 of the 6 fan awards, including best music and best video.
The band recorded their first full length album "A Beautiful Girl" in Nashville, Tennessee and Smithsburg, Maryland in the fall of 2006. "A Beautiful Girl" was released on July 7th of 2007 at Recher Theatre in Baltimore and is quickly climbing a chart....somewhere, we hope.
