In Dallas, there’s not a whole lot to do. It’s too hot in the summer to do anything but stay in doors all day, and in the winter we’re so used to the warmth that once it gets the slightest bit chilly we run for cover. Overexposure to indoors could be a dangerous thing, but when the two childhood friends Michael Bravata and Brian Towell found that they had this common ground, the result was incredible. Michael, an avid songwriter and Brian, an insane beat-maker forged in the furnace to create beautiful, atmospheric post-rock with touching melodies and overwhelming volume. The Boat Lights is the musical outlet for two of the most passionate music writers that you will probably ever meet. The two boys have been making music together for nearly 10 years now and have now only both gotten a full grasp of each other’s creative juices, and gotten out of high school. The youth in The Boat Lights shows as it seems that they’re just experiencing everything in life for the first time, which comes across with soaring magnitude through their music. This is obviously the early stages of the group and I just can’t wait to see what turn the brothers are going to be making next.

Al concorso potranno partecipare singoli o gruppi. I gruppi dovranno essere formati da un massimo di 7 componenti. La partecipazione è gratuita. I partecipanti dovranno presentare 2 brani inediti da eseguire in chiave acustica. Il genere di musica è libero e i brani eseguiti devono essere composti da testo e musica. Il concorso si articolerà in tre fasi: selezione, eliminatoria e finale. Nella fase di selezione saranno scelti da un'apposita commisione 12 candidati che accederanno alla fase eliminatoria dove una giuria competente selezionerà 6 finalisti che si esibiranno nella fase finale lunedì 2 giugno 2008.

Nella finale del 2 giugno sarà decretato il vincitore. Il vincitore riceverà come premio un buono di 800 euro+targa di partecipazione; il secondo classificato un buono di 500 euro+targa di partecipazione; il terzo classificato un buono di 300 euro+targa di partecipazione. Saranno assegnati anche dei riconoscimenti per il miglior testo, miglior arrangiamento e originalità. In giuria saranno presenti anche i cantautori Alberto Cantone, Riky Bizzarro, Leo Miglioranza, Giorgio Barbarotta, Gianluca Nuti e Massimo Bubola.
