The Bobkatz list their musical influences as many and varied, including The Beatles , James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Guy Clarke, Jerry Jeff Walker, Poco , The Eagles, Paul Kelly and Skyhooks.
Comprising Garry Koehler and Robert Mackay, The Bobkatz hail from the popular seaside country city of Hervey Bay in Queensland.
Their music depicts "Real Australia" in stories of real people and real places.
Born and raised in Albury, Garry writes his real songs based on personal experiences from country childhood family memories ("8 years old on a Chamberlain tractor, he thought he was the King") through to raising a much cherished family of his own ("I took my kids fishin up on the Nariel Creek, hot sun beatin down on your back, cold water on your feet")
The Bobkatz first single Welcome to Queensland produced by Mike (The Spider) Flanders is the story of Garry's migration from New South Whales to Queensland ("Its a long Way to Cleveland Bay from the banks of the Murray")
Rob shares a similar country upbringing to Garry only in Gippsland Victoria and it is this connection and understanding of Country Australia that gives their musical collaboration its strength. Multi Instrumental Rob adds an array of colour to Gary's songs and he plays a key part in the musical arrangements often using mandolin, banjo & keyboards to accompany a beautiful selection of handmade guitars.
Sweetwater contains 12 original tracks penned by Garry Koehler. The album was recorded at Organic Audio in Brisbane and produced by Michael Flanders [the spider] and engineered by Jason Millhouse [the black crow].
PLEASE enjoy the NEW single "THE LONG HAUL "off the forthcoming Album.
