Growing up at a time when the San Francisco music
scene was young and alive, rock music, in the late 60s & early 70s was influenced by Pop, Funk, & Rhythm and Blues. It was a mixed palette of creative styles, always pushing the limits.
Bob Kinney launched out of high school, from a concert goer, absorbing every influence he could see and as often, to auditioning for his first successful band, Rockola, at age 17, who was recording with A&M records out of Wally Heiders Studios in San Francisco and so it begins
The road, the countless sessions as a studio musician doing commercials for radio, recording acts, and as a signed singer songwriter with Lucent Productions working out of Wally Heiders, The Music Annex, The Record Plant, and Fantasy Studios.
Bob Kinneys unique style, that draws from Rock, Funk and Blues influences, earned him many lead guitar positions including; Little Anthony & the Imperials, Magic Slim & the Teardrops, The Scott Joss Band (fiddle player with Dwight Yoakum), Eddie Money, the band No Secrets with members from Sammy Hager, Pablo Cruise, and Copperhead
The Drifters, April & the Texas Rangers (Bob won a Sammie for that one), to name a few.
With an opportunity in 1990 for something a little different, Bob moved onto the Nevada Casino circuit. From Las Vegas to Reno, playing the lounges, then moving right into the showrooms with nine production shows under his belt, which included; American Superstars, Red Hot Country, the acclaimed swing show Work That Skirt.
Bobs rockin blues style once again earned him the opportunity to be musical director for two of the best Tribute touring acts; Rubber Biscuit (a tribute to the blues brothers) and Garratt Wilkin & the Parrotheads (a celebration of Jimmy Buffets music).
Now returning to the Bay Area ,with emphasis on songwriting, recording and song pitching, while forming his own band "The Bob Kinney Group", Duo- "Everett /Kinney" (formed with Sax -Key extrodanaire Dean Everett), and being a solo artist, Bob is ready to show what dynamic performance,an original sound, with a sense of style can do.
With extensive experience in clubs, concerts, festivals, and corporate events...
"An Original Sound.. A Long Time Comin"... The Bob Kinney Group
