Influences
Inspiration: The 800 year struggle for freedom and democracy in Ireland against Britain has inspired many artists, including ourselves. The continued British miliatry occupation of Ireland and centuries of British terrorisim against the Irish people continues to pervert all concepts of justice and democracy. Ireland was Britain's first colony and shall also be its last.
Musical: Wolfe Tones, Pogues, Athenry, Eire Og, Barleycorn, Old Brigade, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, Black 47, Charlie and the Bhoys, Shebeen, and Muddy Waters.
Political/Philosophical: The Irish Republican movement. Nelson Mandela. George Washington. Samuel Adams. Robert Emmet. Theobald Wolfe Tone. Padraig Pearse. George Mason. Bobby Sands.
Lifestyle/Discourse: Shane MacGowan and Brer Rabbit.

Band members from Belfast and San Francisco. The Bog Savages play classic and original Irish rebel songs in San Francisco and Northern California.
2008 is starting off strong on all fronts. From "strength to strength" as our leaders would say. We're the only band supporting Black 47 at their Santa Cruz appearance in March, and will be supporting them in San Francisco at the Red Devil Lounge. The Bog Savages will also be playing at the St. patrick's Day Parade festivities at the Civic Center Plaza on Saturday, March 15. The Bog Savages will be one of the featured groups in the March 2008 "San Francisco Irish Fest," playing at the boisterous Blackthorn Tavern on Sunday. March 16. Most importantly, our debut album will be released shortly.
The band has been highlighted on KRON television news, played at the 2006 San Franciso St. Patrick's Day Parade, and headlined the premier Irish music venues in Northern California including Ireland's 32, the Abbey Tavern, the Dog's Bollix, the Blackthorn Tavern, Fiddler's Green, and the Irish Cultural Center. 2006 also saw the Bog Savages as a supporting act for the renowned Black 47 at the Red Devil Lounge which was a fantastic night for the sold-out crowd. Since then we have worked hard at groupie development and have been in the studio working steadfastly.
The new album will be out this year, no doubt. Filled with classics like Go On Home British Soldiers, Back Home in Derry, Follow Me Up to Carlow, and Belfast Man, an original tribute to hunger striker Bobby Sands who died in 1981 after being elected to Parliament while in Long Kesh - a British prison on Irish soil.
Love Ireland as much as you love yourself, or preferably moreso, and remember that love is an action verb. Irish Republicanism is against facism, racism, and sectarianism. Also, the band does not necessarily subscribe to any of the views, comments, or opinions held by "Friends" on this MySpace site, which is of course filled with whacky people and nutters. The band and this page do not support any proscribed or illegal organisations.
