A small Appalachian community called Waynesboro, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Pennsylvania, is home to a hoedown inspired band called the Boro Boogie Pickers. The BBP are all natives of Waynesboro, PA and long time companions through music and otherwise. Their original music is a unique blend of bluegrass, country and folk music. Creating a fun musical outlet, with acoustic instruments, was the initial goal but with their success as a local party band in the spring of 2007, they quickly realized that friends and fans were anticipating more. The positive musical vibe was irrefutable. As sure as the Antietam cuts through the Mason Dixon, the band began to breach their own musical boundaries. They set forth to write and tailor their music so that the BBP would persistently perform new material with an old down home approach, to ensure every show remained exciting and fresh. The BBP hoedown was born! Their audiences enjoy the diverse array of original songwriting and the “hoedown” atmosphere while the BBP strive to get their fans up and moving as well as interacting with the band. The BBP released their debut album, “Barn and Raised” in August of 2007, and are presently in the studio completing their second album. They attribute their success to the support of family, friends, and fans.
The BBP have shared the same bill with: Greensky Bluegrass, Emmitt Nershi Band, Donna Jean, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Larry Keel, Tony Rice, Seldom Scene, JGB, Drew Emmitt Band, Jim Lauderdale and many more...
