The Bottle Brunettes were born of a super(smashing, great)group dream by Poncho Bottle-Brunette. He was co-founder and songwriter of Hicks Milligan-Prophecy, who were hailed by GQ Contributing Editor Kevin Braddock as part of a ‘Nouveau Pop Conceptuel’ along with the likes of British Seapower and Architecture In Helsinki. They had a great time cavorting home and abroad with the likes of The Fall, Alabama 3, Echo And The Bunnymen, The Rumblestrips, Candie Payne and New Young Pony Club. However, raised on the films of Ray Harryhausen (and rhubarb crumble), when two of the band left to get married and emigrate Poncho sought greater adventures. Armed with nothing but optimism and a small wooden sword he decided to try and enlist the services of a dream line-up worthy of the world of myths and folklore. And just as in the Ray Harryhausen films, a band of heroes came forward to take up the challenge. Some wonderful people have contributed so far, including the awesome Steve J. Jones on drums and the brilliant Rach from Popworld and T4 favourites The Bright Lights on guitars. Currently working on an album’s worth of material we hope you’ll like the rough mixes so far – and if you think you might have something special to offer this project in any way (we’re very open-minded) then please feel very welcome to get in touch.
Here's what the great Tom Robinson said about us on the radio: ‘…‘One Bad Pint’ from the brilliant Bottle Brunettes’…though we could just have easily played the equally fine ‘Don’t Disassemble Your Girlfriend’ – both of which are warmly recommended and can be heard at www.myspace.com/thebottlebrunettes .

Are you sure these are rough mixes? They sound fab! Great news about Tom Robinson; I've always loved him! Don't know why someone like him has been shunted to the graveyard shift while divbags like Lamb, Keveney and Laverne dominate 6music...
Hey, many thanks for inviting us to The Miller of Mansfield (sadly no Mansfield bitter). You were ace, you rocked and The Glagga Glaggas all plan to re-assemble their girlfriends this weekend.
