The Melting Pot that is our influences & all the genres of The Breaks that we represent.
The Bouillabaisse DJs [Fr. boo-ya-bes] are a collective of Sydney DJs brought together by a common love of the classic break sound, from 70’s funk to 80’s hip hop, party breaks and everything in between. Having joined forces in early 2007, they now present an eclectic breaks night with old school sensibilities that has found favour with audiences as diverse as the music they play.
"Real magic isn't card tricks, big cribs n cars, bitch,
It's makin' something outta nothin' through this hardship" - Bliss n Eso.
"Most of these kids could get their guns out & kill me,
But how many have got the skills to inspire & thrill me?!" - Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip.
pHaze_5
pHaze_5 has been involved in the Sydney hip hop scene since the mid 80s, originally as a graffiti artist and breakdancer. As a DJ, he's heavily influenced by burgeoning hip hop scene from the 1970s. pHaze_5 has DJ'd for several groups including Antenna (Dave Faulkner, Kim Salmon, as DJ Erratik), string ensemble Coda (where he was the first turntablist to perform at the Sydney Opera House), Campbelltown hip hop group La Di Da, and electronic outfit, Escobar. He has contributed to remixes for The Whitlams, Kim Salmon and Southend. Also a guitarist, and regarded by his friends as a musical encyclopedia, pHaze_5 has eclectic taste when it comes to music with influences ranging from blues, rock and funk to old school hip hop and electronic beats.
After a seven year hiatus pHaze_5 is back behind the decks & you never know what he might drop. Also one half of Sydney party breaks duo The Bouillabaisse DJs, the name behind the upcoming Booyah Breaks Parties.
DJ du Jour
DJ du Jour is a popular Sydney house party & mixtape DJ who will throw any thing from rock, pop, soul, breakbeat, funk, old school, R&B, hip hop, rare groove & party breaks into one of his sets. An avid record collector since childhood, DJ du Jour was a musician from an early age until he got his first turntable. From this point all instruments fell by the wayside as he consolidated his love for all recorded sound, and the intricacies of blending to rock tha place right. A lover of all styles of DJing, du Jour has run one of Sydney's premier DJ/Pro Audio stores - has a wealth of knowledge and a real enthusiasm for the art of the DJ. Also one half of Sydney partybreaks duo The Bouillabaisse DJs, the name behind the upcoming Booyah Breaks Parties.
DJ Av
DJ Av began spinning during the mid 90's, starting out at house jams,
then into venues for the last 6 - 7 years. Inspired as he was,
watching a friend 'on the cut' in his late teenage years, Av had to
get amoungst it any way he could. During his career, he has worked for
some of Sydney's premier entertainment industry providers.
A purveyor of the big beat sound, his style centres around beats of a broken nature: from old skool Hip Hop, D&B to Breaks. Heroes includes the likes of Krafty Kuts, Freestylers, Plumps, Stanton Warriors - that phat party break sound! Ask the man yourself, he puts it like this..."My style is to play a party set. No hanky panky business, just throw on big tunes and get on with it."

What’s Crackin’ The Bouillabaisse DJs ? We’re hitting back our myspace folks to let you know that your prayers have been answered. What prayers, you may ask. Well, today my friends, the good reptiles over at Bossasaurus (namely the ones writing this message) have teamed up with Murs (Living Legends, Def Jux, 9th Wonder, etc.) to, for the first time ever, offer you a taste of our music with an emcee over them. If you hate emcees and were feeling the tranquility of our un-defiled instrumental works than we sincerely apologize for our critical error in judgment. Otherwise come on over and check out:
We hope you enjoy it. If you don't come thru and talk that sweet smack.
