======================================

THE GOLDEN BOULDER ANTHOLOGY SO FAR.......

======================================

GOLDEN BOULDER Started performing in 2002 as a duo. Chris Cox on Vocals and Guitar, Ellz Purser on Drums. Like a TURBO White Stripes, but playing anything from Claptons's 'Layla' and Hendrix's 'Hey Joe' through to The Dandy Warhols, or The Vandals but still only 8 yrs old! "My Generation" means somethin at that age!

Two years followed, with festivals and gigs around the South of the UK, including the now infamous National BBC TV program with Ace from Skunk Anansie, filmed in Sep 2003 when they were 9yrs old.

The change really came when they found players to join the fun. Nick made great strides with bass in just over three years. He has to put up with Chris showing him what he wants, but then he's also enjoying the fruits of hitting the ground running! His second ever gig with the band was "The Hard Rock Cafe" in Birmingham!

At any age it's a proud band that can say they've played main stage at London's Wembley Arena! (let alone countless festivals through the summer)

(BUT TURN OFF THE SOUNDS HERE FIRST)

Chris returned to writing NEW MATERIAL in a big way in 2007. The pressure has never been great; as being able pull off some of the classic numbers they enjoy is a great proving ground. You never write music you can't play after all... With elements of Blues and Jazz fused with that Classic Rock sound - you'll find examples popping up around here, or the main website - for your enjoyment from time to time

No matter what they develop in the future, you're still likely to hear something like a Heavy Beatles "Day Tripper", a full blown Metallica, a funky jazz section or Motorhead elements slipping in there somewhere in a Golden Boulder set

(BUT TURN OFF THE SOUNDS HERE FIRST)

There may be other players in the wings, as the band want to Rock like a BOULDER , and after all, this is a true ANTHOLOGY in its SEVENTH year!

- Maybe keyboards, brass or more guitars will come in - who knows! Chris's dad collects Hagstrom Guitars, so maybe a bit of classic Bryan Ferry with retro Glitter guitar (Franz who?), or David Bowie Major Tom - heck it's early days despite those six years!

Chris enjoys playing Blues and Jazz when he gets the chance, usually on a trip to an overseas festival, or if someone older takes him seriously enough to ask for a jam! (BIG HINT there EC...) He's never complained about people stating a likeness. Jimi Hendrix may be a music angel, but Clapton is God! Yet Chris has always been very understated off stage, and to hear about his love of music - you'll need to start the conversation off!

ELLZ can now be clearly seen over his Pearl Drum kit, and in any case will give many drummers a run for their money, mastering classics in his own inimitable style and power. Early comparisons with Phil Collins may be crossing over to a mixture between a Bonham and Taz!

All three players have shot up in height recently, putting their early days in the shade. People recognise the maturity of there current sound - none more than the media as the Observer magazine wrote in April 2008: "...well past the point of being novelty nine year olds..."and "rock trio Golden Boulder are real pros in the biz now".

Enjoy!

2008 is predominently about studio recording some own material from the last 12 months. Asked to record studio tracks for Chichester University College students as part of sound recording and engineering exams, the band are now recording their own tracks and looking forward to the outcome.

With 11 chosen tracks for the students and another 7 of our own numbers in the latest mix we hope to have a completed album available by around August 2008.

Just wanted to thank you for dropping by for a cold beer with us and staying for the music. We really appreciate your nice comments. We’re still getting moved in here and with our new album coming out soon, we've been pretty busy. Please stay in touch and drop by any time. Any of your friends that are into hard rock like Deep Purple and classic Whitesnake, please send them over. There will always be plenty of room for new friends at our home.
