About The Bowery Riots

The Bowery Riots are a 6 piece that got its name from the Bowery Boys, a turn of the 20th century street gang, and the Astor Riots, an infamous street fight that took place in the mid 19th century. The idea of dressing up in old NYC party and dinner club fashion is an ode to the history of the Big Apple. Shows are a party. For the the Riots, their live debut took place in late March of 2008. The band has since headlined local hotspots at GOLD BAR, GREENHOUSE, 205, THE STUDIO@WEBSTER HALL, DROM, GLASSLANDS GALLERY, among others. The debut EP was finished (available on all online pay sites including I tunes and Amazon) in early 2008 and was recorded by producer Mark Lewis ( Flyleaf). In July 2008, the band recorded Sam Cooke's " A Change Is Gonna Come" with Greg Lattimer (Albert Hammond Jr) for the Changering.com compilation, a fundraising project for the Barack Obama campaign. The compilation includes the artist Fishbone among others. The band is currently working on their second EP. Their debut EP made the LIMEWIRE BEST OF 2008 list.
