My taste is highly erratic, generally embarassing and overall, unrepresentative of my personality.
I like folk music. I like show tunes. I like standards. I like silence.

I write novels for teenagers. I'm the author of The Boyfriend List, The Boy Book, Fly on the Wall, Dramarama, How to Be Bad (together with Sarah Mlynowski and Lauren Myracle) and The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks. At my website there's a blog, plus all kinds of information on my books, preview chapters, ridiculous quizzes, videos and more.
Or come friend me, Sarah Mlynowski and Lauren Myracle at the How to Be Bad myspace page, which has video of our road trips, secrets about our bad pasts, and podcasts!
I have been known to wear pink and orange together. I have dyed my hair quite a number of different colors but never blue. I am prone to psychological back pain, and when I tell myself it's all psychological the pain just moves to my calf muscles.
Cat person. Cheese person. Drinker of diet root beer. Virgo. Nail-biter. Silly dancer. Reader of cookbooks and novels. Anglophile.
Animal I most resemble (according to my nearest and dearest): an otter.
NOTE: I get a lot of messages from people and find I can't email them back because they haven't "friended" me -- so if you want a reply, add me, please!
Hey E! I literally just finished reading The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau- Banks, and I loved it. The book was so hilarious, especially the view on nose picking in private and how people might be watching you...I was laughing so hard, people in the room took notice. I didn't want the book to end the way it did; I wanted Frankie and Alpha to hook up! That was the best part though, being surprised for the first time in awhile at how things work out. The funniest thing was seeing the word "grodie" in there. I had completely forgotten about that word, but when reading the book I remembered how popular that word was at one point! Can't wait to read more of your work!
So, I just finished The Boy Book a few days ago, and it was pretty friggin' amazing, haaa. I pretty much love your Ruby Oliver books, and at the moment I'm trying to convince my mom to take me book shopping to get The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, but she's not giving in,sadly. -.- Haha, anyways,I just wanted to say that your an amazing author. :D -Natalie.
"The Disreputable History" has done more for me than I ever though a book I plucked off the shelves of a library could do. I clung to it until the very last day I had before returning it. It's like my bible. Frankie used her mind and did what she wanted without letting anyone else hold her down and that's what I aspire to be like. Your book completely inspired me to, well, I guess become a feminist. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that men, really people in general, have been underestimating me my entire life and I don't want to let that heppen anymore, and I don't. Never doubt the power of a 14 year old girl and her words! Who knew they could be such effective weapons? I've also discovered that I am indeed already a member of the Cacophony Society. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who wears togas to movie theaters or is generally insane and enjoys it. Really, your book has directly influenced how I live my life now. Thank you for doing what you love. I can't wait until the new Ruby Oliver book comes out. I have high hopes for her :]
i still haven't read your most recent 2 books. :( but they're on my long list of books i want to read this summer. i love the boyfriend list series!!! xD
