RUNNER-UP BREAK CONTEST WINNERS WILL RECEIVE:
- Side Stage Slots on The Bamboozle 2009 at the Meadowlands
- Weekend Passes for the band
- Exposure in The Aquarian Bamboozle Issue

THE BREAK COMPETITION WINNERS:
Out of the 2 participating venues and the 160 competing bands and critics picks there will be a 14 Break Contest winners advancing to the Bamboozle 2009.

All bands that apply will be submitted to area promoters for consideration of other shows. National, regional, and local slots will be possible for all applicants regardless of contest results. This information will be distributed to the following promoters for booking consideration: Live Nation, Jersey Shows, Tri-State Punk, Cojack Presents, House of Blues Atlantic City, and others.

CRITIC PICKS:
A select few slots will be left open on Bamboozle 2009 for bands that have shown success in the judged areas of the Break Contest but do not advance.

There will be five preliminary rounds between January 4th and February 8th followed by two semi final rounds on March 7th & 14th. One final round will take place on April 18th at the Music Expo at the Stone Pony. Your performances will be judged and critiqued by a panel of industry professionals. Each Break Contest preliminary round will have eight finalists moving on to the next round. Eight winners from The Stone Pony will be moving onto the Bamboozle Festival.

There will be five preliminary rounds between January 10th and February 7th followed by two semi final rounds on March 8th & 15th. The North Jersey Break Contest finalists are invited to participate in the finals at The Stone Pony on April 19th at The Music Expo. Your performances will be judged and critiqued by a panel of industry professionals. Each Break Contest preliminary round will have eight finalists moving on to the next round. Eight winners from Cedar Grove VFW will be moving onto the Bamboozle Festival.

LOAD IN:
Each band will be assigned a specific load in time in advance to the performance date. You must report to the venue at your specified time. Failure to arrive by your specified load in time may result in disqualification. A Break Contest representative will be in contact with you to answer any questions you may have.
 
SET TIMES:
Bands will receive their set time no later to one week prior to their show. Each competing band will have 20 minutes to perform with a 10 minute set change. Set times will be given out at random and cannot be changed or negotiated without advance approval. Please arrive at your respective venue 2 hours prior to your set time to settle tickets and also meet the venue’s stage manager.  All tickets must be settled before your band takes the stage.

TICKETS:
Each band will be given 75 tickets each to sell. To move on to the next event each band must have a minimum of 40 tickets sold. Tickets will be sold at $12.00 in advance and $14.00 day of show at the door. Each band who sells over 40 tickets will receive $1.00 per ticket. Bands that do not meet the minimum may be disqualified at the digression of the on site Linc Star representative.

SCORING:
Each round will be scored by a panel judges on a scale of 1 – 10 in the following categories:
Talent……………………………………. 30% (Judged)

Audience Response     ………………… 20% (Judged)
Ballots…………………………………… 20% (Tallied)
Winners will be announced the following day on the Break Contest Website.

EQUIPMENT:
A full backline will be provided which includes Bass rig, Guitar rig, basic Guitar and Bass amps, (Guitarists must bring their own guitar heads), basic Drum set (Drummers must bring their own snare, cymbals, throne, and kick pedal). Each venue will provide a full sound system and house lights. There will be no outside fog/smoke machines, extra lights, or intro music. If you have any other items, please clear it with your Linc Star representative prior to your show date.
 
RULES & REGULATIONS:
The Break Contest is the Official Bamboozle Festival Battle of the Bands. This is the ONLY way local bands will be considered for the festival. All participating bands will receive Urine passes, which will offer free entry to all Break Contest competitions. Bands will be allowed to attend all Break Contest events to promote themselves and their Break Contest performance. Participating bands must display the Break Contest Logo on their website, myspace, etc. with a link to the contest website.

BREAK CONTEST RADIUS CLAUSE: All Break Contest bands must agree to no perform within 35 miles of the venue for a time period of 22 days prior and after each Break performance. Certain exceptions may occur with written permission from Linc Star. We are open to discussion with all bands about any conflicting schedules but please reach out to us with ample notice. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.

BEHAVIOR NOTICE:
Any band caught fighting, excessively cursing, cheating, or any illegal activity will be disqualified and subject to legal ramification. Linc Star reserves the right to disqualify any band as they see fit.

All break contest applications are subject to review. The Break Contest reserves the right to deny entry to any artist without notification. All entrants give the Break Contest the permission to use their music, logo, and likeness for promotional purposes only. The number of slots available for the Bamboozle Festival is tentative and is subject to change.
