Recent press for The Prospect EP - Released Feb. 09
“Launching The Prospect EP to a packed house at New York City's, The Annex last week, The Break Mission gave many their first opportunity to hear the new tracks in the live arena. Overwhelmingly, the response from fans and media suggests that The Break Mission have produced their finest release to date.”

“4 stars… Smooth sounds with even smoother transitions allow the individual tracks to present themselves as essential parts of a better whole. – revolt
“This Brooklyn trio has just released a new EP that contains four tracks of sprawling piano driven mid-tempo numbers that make you sit up and listen to their smooth delivery. The Prospect EP is an encouraging collection of tracks for a band that already has two indie full lengths in their resume, so it would not surprise me if we don't here more from this group in 2009!” – fire drill
“epic sound” – popwreckoning.com
“They released their awesome new EP, The Prospect earlier this month, celebrating with a stellar release show at The Annex. This is some seriously great music - and chatting with the guys was a blast.” – breakthruradio.com
“We just found out about this trio and their new EP The Prospect. The music sounds and feels passionate, and the instrumentation is beautiful.” – mog.com
"Earnest, hushed and intense, I find them to be reminiscent of early Shins and, once again Band of Horses. The songs seem to shimmer in a hypothetical musical light. Hardly one for emotional outpouring, I have to say I do feel a certain warmth when listening to them, the kind I haven't felt for a band in a long, long while." - pioneers
The Break Mission is a Brooklyn trio showcasing a unique talent for impassioned storytelling and lilting dynamics, much like their revered contemporaries Elbow, Death Cab for Cutie and Doves. Critics and fans alike have described the band as sublime, anthemic and refreshing.
Some highlights over the years include showcasing at CMJ, NEMO, 2NMC, Dewey Beach Pop Fest and the International Pop Overthrow. The group performed at Boston’s WBCN Rock N Roll Rumble, WFNX New England Product Series and CN8's Backstage with Barry Nolan. The band has been featured in SPIN magazine, performed with artists like Duncan Sheik, The Push Stars and Matisyahu, and contributed songs to various compilations including Starbuck's Music, sold in stores nationwide.
The band released their latest offering, The Prospect EP, on February 10, 2009.

Story by: Derek Zarda
Brooklyn based indie-rock melody makers the Break Mission are set to capitalize on their self-released, heart-string-tugging 2007 album, As Much Light As It Will Take, with a new record slated for February. Titled, The Prospect, this four-track EP seeks to re-establish the band's penchant for soothing, piano-laden ballads and moody pop-rock foreplay.
Founding members Jeff Knowlton (piano, guitar, vocals) and Matt Hershey (drums, percussion) have slimmed down the lineup to a trio, as newcomer Ben Lindell takes over bass duties in the wake of departing members Dave Murray and Bill Wathen. However, EP-opener, "The Prospect," dismisses any notion of the band slowing down with its new lineup as Knowlton's breathy vocals and slow-burning acoustic guitar chords build steadily towards a crash of emphatic drums and bass lines. Look for the The Prospect EP to be released on iTunes in early February with future tour dates listed on their website.

Sometimes when i look around, all i see is misery, despair, frustration and pain...
Then, i close my eyes, take a couple deep breaths, RELAX...And ask myself, "WHAT IF all I saw was what I WANTED TO SEE?" Then, I open my eyes. I see the sun, I see the blue sky, I see my girls smiling back at me, I see life...
And then, lo and behold, I see nothing but OPPORTUNITY...
