With songs such as “Blame it on Rock and Roll”, “The Stars” and “Dark and In Doubt”; The Breakup Letter is a high-energy acoustic drum rock band featuring Jeremy Knowles and Mike Olivieri. Collectively these two provide accelerating pop songs with echoing lyrics and foot tapping melodies. The pair have toured extensively through out North America and Japan sharing the stage with a variety of talent including legendary performer David Wilcox, The Odds, The Killjoys and the Marble Index. The debut record, It’s Not Me, It’s You produced by Dave Fritz (Junior Achiever, WACT , Ramona) with special guest appearance by Matt Trotter (breathe) and Steven Scott (Junior Achiever) will be available on Gutless Entertainment in the spring of 2009.
Whether a breakup letter comes via the postal service, the internet or over the wireless waves of the mobile phone circuit; it is always hard to swallow. Although at the time of receiving a breakup letter one may not appreciate the poeticism of a heart felt confession of a lost love, a breakup letter is a canvas for liberation and inspiration. Mike Olivieri and Jeremy Knowles are wearing their hearts on their sleeves in an uplifting string of melodic acoustic drum rock songs that complete their debut record, “It’ Not Me, It’s You.”
“It’s just not working”; “I have to concentrate on my career”; “it’s just a bad time in my life”; I am not ready for a commitment” or my personal favourite, “I think we’re better of as friends”. This is not sex in the city, rather the truth about loosing interest in someone and simply telling it like it is. The reason we break up with people is always the same, we just don’t like them. The excuses are endless and the reasons may vary, but the truth remains the same, it’s Not Me, It’s You.
Although not very tactful, my favourite medium for a breakup is the text message. It is quick, painless (for the “breakuper” anyway) and effective. Due to the restriction on characters, one can not beat around the bush about what they are trying to say. It is the George Orwell method of breakup letters.
Stay tuned for upcoming news and information about TBl.

That was a great set at The Horseshoe. Catchy, uplifting tunes underlined by foot-stomping rhythms, soft harmonies, and a rustic songwriting spirit. Taking life as serious and not as serious, this pair of plaid-shirted troubadours bring their bouncy brand of guitar-driven Americana straight from Ontario’s Golden Horseshoe.
