The Breed answer the question - Do robots have a Heart or a Soul?
"You Stole My Love"
Historic video footage of the Breed when they appeared at the Sheraton Hotel (Hobart) in 1994. They play a cover of the Aussie Beat classic "You Stole My Love" which was originally recorded by Mike Furber & the Bowry Boys. This footage has been synced to a demo of the song that was recorded by the band around the same time. This song is still featured as a crowd favourite in their current playlist.
Influences
The Breed plays a blend of aggressive powerpop, merseybeat, mod revival, 60s garage and melodic punk. They demonstrate that beat, melody and energy are all you need for a good night out. Influences include The Beatles, The Who, The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones, The Jam, The Sunnyboys, The Stems, The Innocents, The Standells, Music Machine, The Small Faces, The Action, Squire, Secret Affair, The Flaming Groovies, The Byrds, The Ramones, Green Day, REM, Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Hank Marvin, The Sex Pistols etc....
Sounds Like
The Who from the early sixties, The Sunnyboys, The Innocents, The Standells, Squire. The look is a Beatles/Byrds hybrid with a touch of Oasis. Your mind will go round in circles.
Wayne has played guitar all his life and loves 60s music. He has an LP collection that would require a semi-trailer to move (almost!) and has played in a number of Tasmanian bands.
Wayne's energy on stage, and rhythm-lead playing style, enables him to carry off a full sound, even in solos. His vocal style is in keeping with the 60s influences, but carries a modern flavour equally as well. Wayne is the main song-writer.
Steve "B&Massa (pronounced BAND-Mass-Uh)" J: Bass & Vocals -
Steve is a punk Peter Pan, refusing to grow up, worshiping both the Sex Pistols and Green Day, but loving all melodic, fast and loud rock from all eras. He brings a spirit of fun and adventure to the music with simple, solid bass lines and strong vocal harmonies.
The Breed is Steve's favourite band, both musically and for its members. He is also responsible for bringing The Breed's videos to DVD.
Steve B: Drums & Vocals -
A tonal artist, music teacher and Beatles fanatic, Steve B is almost melodic in his approach to drums. His style is diverse, one minute tapping a delicate counterpoint to a sixties classic, the next rolling a thunderous brit-pop explosion.
Steve's harmonies are rich and high, bringing a depth and texture even keyboards struggle to match. When not bashing the skins in dimly lit rooms, Steve B is teaching the next generation's rhythm section how to do it right. He also paints, and was a finalist in the 1998 Archibald Prize.
