Wayne cites Guy Clark as big stand out for him. I can name a few such as BW Stevenson, John Prine, John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett, and countless others in the Americana genre.
Sounds Like
I would like to think our sound is distinct and that we sound like, well, us.
Wayne Warden and I have been together since late 2003 writing and co-writing original Texas folk rock music and playing with some cover songs by artists such as BW Stevenson, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Nanci Griffith, Hank Williams…just to name a few. We eventually formed The Brett Mussey Band (the name was Wayne’s idea, not mine) and a studio began to take shape at my house. We enlisted John Chandler to mix the sound and integrate the percussion sounds into the songs. In 2006 we cut our first CD that was comprised of six original tunes, hence The Six Pack CD emerged with Mike Chambers providing the bass tracks. We are currently working on a new CD and creating new material that will be included in the song list. Mike Walters has replaced Mike Chambers as our bass player as Mike has taken to the road (literally) to drive an 18-wheeler. Wayne has been writing and performing his songs for 25 years, from Seattle, WA to Fort Worth, TX and most states in between. Wayne has worked with small bands in Denver, Seattle, and Fort Worth. In 1978 Wayne traveled the United States for 10 months singing his songs in camp grounds and national parks where ever he happened to stop. He sang for people he met along the way in the best tradition of the American Folk Singer. He played lead guitar and wrote songs for the Frank Waters band in Seattle. When in Denver he did the same for the Dan Wallis band. These small bands played private parties and small venues in both cities. While in Fort Worth Wayne wrote songs for Tim Wooley and the Phantom Rockers. Wayne won an award for lyrics in the American Song Festival contest. I have been writing and performing my own material for almost three decades. I have appeared at venues in Los Angeles, CA, San Antonio, TX, and Fort Worth, TX. Being a member of the Fort Worth Songwriters Association has afforded me the opportunity to perform at singer/songwriter showcases at the Neon Moon Saloon and my song, Panhandle Ways, won Song of the Month award at The Rig. I hope you enjoy the songs we have posted on our MySpace website and come back periodically since we will post new material as it becomes ready for “prime time”. Thanks for the visit. Sincerely, Brett Mussey

I think so, my sinking house isn't as bad as I thought. Kinda like life, not as good nor as bad as we imagine. I doubt the brad-mad will show, it's during school and he doesn't get the grades needed to justify time-off.
Just one more, check out the Rosalynn mayspace and you'll see a video I recorded on my phone of their audition for the battle of the bands at La Serna High School. Remeber, this is a phone so a grain of salt is needed.
Hey cuz, hope to see you in rock'tober. We're rootin for the Lakers tonight but I'll bet you're not. Brad has a gig this Friday. La Serna High School has a battle of the bands and his band plays on Friday. My garage is full of amps, speakers and a drum set. They've been rehearsing daily for the last week and Peggy is about to kill herself. The band, Rosalynn, hopes to make a wave in the local music scene.
Thanks for the friendship. Have a good road trip. The Panther City Rounders will host an Outdoor Jam at The Coffee Urn Cafe on Saturday, June 21, 2008, from noon - 2:00 pm. I hope y'all will join us.
