After over a year of being described as an “emerging band”, Berwick based indie rockers The Briganties are all set to announce their arrival for real, with the release of their hotly anticipated debut album ‘Forever’. The band’s debut single ‘The Girl Heaven Sold to the World’, released in March 2008 saw a suitably enamoured Q Magazine reviewer proclaiming The Briganties as “a band bursting with potential and definitely ones to watch in 2008”.
So why the wait? Bassist Brian Dytor explains “you only get one first album, so it has to be the best we can do. The album will give us the chance to show people what we're about.” Using the philosophy that you only get one chance to make a first impression, The Briganties have been painstakingly been piecing together this exceptional example of classic sounding British indie rock for the past twelve months. The album includes new versions of singles ‘The Girl Heaven Sold to the World’, ‘Sidestep’, perennial live favourites ‘Forever in our Minds’, ‘Covert Operation’ and newer tracks such as ‘I Float Away’.
Despite the long shifts spent recording in PFL Studios in Berwick, The Briganties have still found time to play live with highly touted Scottish newcomers such as Attic Lights, Isoceles, Grace Emilys, Joe Acheson Quartet as well as long established stars such as Shack legend John Head, Faithless frontman Maxi Jazz and more bizarrely Coolio to further boost their developing profile.
