We have played on and around the South Coast of the UK for the last four years, from Dartford in Devon to Herne Bay in Kent.
We play over 40 Beach Boys songs at the last count. Recent additions to the live set include Surf's Up and Catch A Wave.
In May 2005 we performed the whole of Pet Sounds live at the Komedia, Brighton.
In May 2006 we performed the Pet Sounds and Sgt Pepper complete albums live in St George's Church, Kemp Town, Brighton as part of Brighton Festival Fringe. For this show we were augmented by a string quartet, an extra clarinet/sax and a tabla player. -----------------In May 2007 we repeated the Pet Sounds/Sgt Pepper experience in St George's Church on two nights to huge public acclaim. We won two awards for this show, an Argus Angel for "artistic excellence in the Brighton Festival", and a Latest Festival Award for "Best Music Event". The Arts Theatre gigs in August have sadly been cancelled, but we will be performing the show at The Bloomsbury Theatre in September.
The highlight of our brief career to date has to be when Stevie Kalinich, lyric writer of three Beach Boys songs from the sixties, passed us a mobile phone just before we went on stage in Herne Bay, Kent in august 06. On the end of the line - Brian Wilson !! "I hope you're gonna do California Girls!" he joshed. Luckily, we were !! We exist to bring Brian's music to the world, sometimes in it's original context (hence the Pepper shows). I started using my blogging tool to highlight some of the more interesting profiles and some of the better music that I’ve ran across on Myspace and I've really been suprised with the response it's gotten.
Thought I better let you know so that you can’t say that you weren’t warned.
I just wanted to stick my head in to say thanks for your support and your friendship.
Since March 1st I’ve been able to add over 13,000 friends to my site and I’ve been overwhelmed with the incredibly nice comments of encouragement. Its great folks like yourself that make Myspace the place to be for independent musicians and I for one can’t thank you enough.
I wish there were a more personable way to express my gratitude but please know that I’m speaking from my heart with unspeakable thanks.
Ralphie!
Thanks again for being my friend!
I am totally blown away by the fantastic versions here :)
And there's a very cheerful vibe that comes through, beyond the excellent arrangements and quality of your playing and singing.
Wouldn't it Be Nice is one of my all time fave songs ever :)
