We are a funk/jazz/soul/blues quartet based at Bard College. We place an emphasis on having a solid groove and playing together as a group. In addition, we focus on songwriting, playing nearly all originals. We are all music majors at Bard College (several of us have other majors too). This means we've had the incredible opportunity of studying with jazz musicians such as tenor saxophonist Erica Lindsay, pianist John Esposito, drummer Thurman Barker, guitarist Mike DeMicco, and bassist Ira Coleman. We try to put our knowledge of jazz to work in combining it into our largely funk/soul oriented sound. Hope you dig our music... we really love playing it. Feel free to leave us some comments if you'd like.
We're probably going to be doing some more recording very soon and we'll put up the new tunes when we do. We've been rehearsing a lot, so we've got some tight new tunes which we hope you'll enjoy once we put them up...
That's my new CD, "Deacon Blues", the straight ahead organ trio I've been wanting to do for years. It's getting great reviews and lots of radio play - and it's only Jazz; Go figure! The CD features some good friends, including two of my favorite guitarists, Mike DeMicco and the phenomenal Joe Beck. Danny Gottlieb lays down the groove with my brother Tony guesting on bass for a couple of tracks.
The CD is available on line at AMAZON.COM or at WOODSTOCK CD where they also have artist-signed copies in stock. (arguably making them worth less!)

A lot of people have asked, but I've lost track of who. So this is to let you know that my new CD, "Deacon Blues", is finally available - from Motema's website (click on the CD image) or on Amazon.com. It features 2 of my favorite guitarists - Joe Beck & Mike DeMicco, drum legend Danny Gottlieb, my brother Tony on bass, and more.

Well, it sounds like Demicco because it IS Demicco! He's on one other track on the cd that isn't on myspace, that one sounds possibly even better. Your guys' stuff sounds good too!
See you in Blumbadum!

One last time, someone really did come up to me on the porch of Hirsch and go off about how great you guys are and how happy he was that you played at SPRING FREAKIN' FLING, but I can't say who, at the risk of making him look like a wanker (regardless of wankerness it wasn't Marc).
