"Mostly this album is wrong-chord magic that flails all over its influences, picking out the best bits and flittering them between destructive anger and NY chic." - ARTROCKER MAGAZINE
"An album that celebrates the posibilities of rock music as much as the 90s scene it was birthed from, 'Story vs Plot' is very much worth tracking down." - IT'S A TRAP. SCANDINAVIAN MUSIC JOURNAL
"At its heart, Story revels in the continual clash of its sparse guitar strums ... with dalliances and teases towards a harsher, more abrasive textural assault, barely restrained." -THE BIG TAKEOVER MAGAZINE

"Story vs Plot" is Brine’s third release. It’s also their first full length album to date. Relocated from the capital of Sweden to the city of Gothenburg on the west coast, Brine has led the fragmentary guitar noise experiments and dark electronica of their earlier EPs in the direction of more conventional songwriting. Offering more song-oriented material than the group’s earlier efforts, "Story vs Plot" is structured around an aesthetic of eclecticism. Rooted in various fields of music, Brine fuses what is beautiful in rock with more off-beat elements, and transforms the disparate influences into something of their own. Traditional instrumentation of drums, bass, and alternately-tuned guitars blends with the unusual sounds of the homemade antler. Abrasive noise melts in with neo-psychedelic funk; angular guitars stand in full harmony with straightforward tunes and power riffs. In short – this album plays like your favourite mixtape. Every song is different, but still something holds them in place. Inspired by life and art, ”Story vs Plot” is like a simultaneous state of travelling and being still. "Story vs Plot" is written, played and recorded by Davor Abazovic, Mats Larsson, Goran Abazovic, Ricard Harryson, Stian Rødven Eide and Liv Bäckelie. Cover art drawings by Johanna Willenfelt. Layout and design by Andreas Åhs.
