Based in the East of England, The Brink is a 5 piece Rock/Pop Band, influenced by Bon Jovi, Queen and a selection of other artists. The Brink hope to one day find Legendary status themselves.
Matt Strafford (Front man) met up with Alex Bittles (Guitar) and Gary Connor (Bass) during a 2 year spell at Peterborough Regional College back in 2003, where they were all studying for a Btec National Diploma in Music Practice.
Alex Bittles and Gary Connor became good friends years before this, aged 12 while studying at The Queens School in Wisbech. Alex had already started learning his trade as a guitarist and it wasn’t long before Gary picked up the bass guitar. During their time at The Queens School they both joined many student bands together and they won their Years talent contest aged 14.
It wasn’t until the second year at Peterborough Regional College before Matt got to perform with the pair from Wisbech. Their first performance together was a Queen tribute they put on during the lunch hour for the whole college to enjoy. This was a huge Success and with the boys knowing that their college course was coming to an end they started discussing plans for the future.
They decided to start up a Function Band to make a bit of extra cash playing, Weddings, Parties and Pubs. The drummer they were using left for Uni after the Summer which meant they had to find a replacement, so they decided to hold auditions. This is where they met John Terrell (Drums), although they had never seen him before after jamming with him they all realized there was potential there and even chemistry between themselves and John.
A year or so later they decided it was time to start song writing. This is when they wrote their first song ‘Since You Said Hi’. Not even a year old The Brink finds themselves with a good selection of songs and ready to record. With the future in their own hands, remember the name, THE BRINK!!!!
