The British at NXNE - Toronto June 7-10, 2007
At this year's NXNE, Toronto's sister festival to Austins SXSW, the British will have an official presence for the second year running, with a compilation CD, showcase, a panel, a networking event, a Myspace page and a Toronto-based publicist.
Led by Invisible Hands Music's Charles Kennedy and backed by government ministry Department of Trade and Investment (UKTI), the delegation includes a dozen bands and delegates from every area of the British music industry.
Charles Kennedy says, "Toronto is one of the great English-speaking cities of the world and the third biggest entertainment market in North America. Canada has always been an early responder to British bands that went on to conquer the world - Led Zep and Supertramp had their first overseas success there, a tradition that continues right up to the Arctic Monkeys, whose first show outside the UK was in Toronto last year. Its an honour to be leading the delegation and organising the British events at NXNE for the first time."
